Mohammed Merah is defended by journalists in Sweden - NOT by the people
Mohammed Merah is defended in Sweden

This letter is aimed to inform international media of what is now taking place
in Sweden.

Since it was known that the French terrorist belonged to the extremist Islam, the
media in Sweden has made a complete turnaround in their reports. This in a way
that many common Swedes find repugnant.

For example, Swedish newspapers and television refuses to show pictures of the
little children who were murdered by Mohammed Merah.

Nor does the Swedish media any longer report the age of the victims, since it was announced that the killer carried out his deed in the name of Islam.

Many ordinary Swedes thinks that journalists is now trying to downplay the seriousness of this terrorist act, and even defend the terrorist. Both by trying to create sympathy for him as a person. But even making excuses for what he did.

Today on March 24, the reports about the terrorist attacks has almost completely disappeared from Swedish newspapers and TV channels. What is written is now mainly criticism against the French police, because they used deadly force against Mohammed Merah.

The message in Swedish media is that Mohammed Merah is primarily a victim by his
marginalization, poverty and discrimination against Muslims in France. In SVT (Swedish state television channel) Mohammed Merah is refer to as a young “boy”. Not a terrorist.

In the Swedish daily newspaper Dala-Demokraten, Göran Greider (prominent representative of Sweden's biggest party, the Social Democrats) did write that President Nicolas Sarkozy "exploits the incident."

Also Göran Greider avoid calling Muhammed Merah a terrorist, but rather a young man who was "ripped apart" by the "French xenophobia".

In Svenska dagbladet (Sweden's fourth largest newspaper) the French lack of respect for Islam is blamed for the terrorist attacks.

On March 22, Gunilla Von Hall is pointing at the French rules against halal slaughter, the prohibition against Muslim veil in school and that Sarkozy has questioned the separate swimming lessons, according to Muslim customs.

She warns that such violations of Islam may lead to more attacks, and concludes by quoting what Imam Azzedine Gaci said two years ago: "A humiliated person becomes a radicalized individual. Therefore, the prohibition against Muslim veil is dangerous and irresponsible."

Gunilla Von Hall, as most of Swedish journalists, choose not to tell the readers that Mohammed Merah attacked children.
