Frustrated by theories about Earth/Universe
As fascinating documentaries and shows about space and Earth are, I always find myself thinking that the events that "happened" are just literally wild guesses about what happened, as opposed to something that can be proven.

The big bang theory sounds really dumb to me, and theories about how the earth itself formed sound even dumber.

I just saw a segment explaining that a planet collided with earth, ejecting matter which became the moon, and in turn stabilized the earth's poles. This was presented as accepted fact. Seems to me that none of this stuff is even partially proven. Why do the science networks propagate this garbage?

Nobody knows what the hell happened to form planets or the universe itself. Yet, day after day these scientists roll along just making shit up and making cable specials with these random stories they make up to present as HISTORY of the universe.

WTF? Can anyone help me understand why so much garbage about space is propagated with no checks and balances from the real scientific community which demands proof?

Re: Frustrated by theories about Earth/Universe
Have you read that scripture where the Most High says that if the seed of the serpent (and those who follow them) can discover the outer workings of His Heavens and inner-most workings of the earth, then He will cast His people away?

They've been guessing their asses off ever since and they STILL don't know what the hell they're talkin' about.

Just my two cents...

Short answer: money

Long answer: scientists disagree with each other all the time

Best answer: Science doesn't have access to truth, engineering does.

the big bang makes sense though because we know the universe must have begun but like you said no 1 knows

Re: Frustrated by theories about Earth/Universe
I think you'll find if you actually listen carefully, those explanations are always presented as theories... and at least they are making an attempt at putting the process together based on the evidence they have rather than just waving it away with a "goddidit".

Science is a process, it is always testing itself, revising itself and progressing.

A while ago if you suggested dinosaurs had feathers people would be like "dude wtf?" but now?

It's looking like they pretty much had a lot of feathers going on, word.

Older ideas will be replaced and refined as our knowledge and ability to examine our universe grows.

Science rarely says "we know" it mostly says "we suspect" but if it does say "we know" (in the case of evolution, for example) then you can take it as fucking FACT.
(inb4 "no evidence for evolution because I've never read a fucking book outside of fundiecreationist propaganda" crowd).

Anyway, surely, for the love of humanity, surely it's got to be better than some static arrogant medieval idea that we know everything there is to know and anything we don't know is a mystery that can never be solved and we'll all burn in hell for even asking hm?

Re: Frustrated by theories about Earth/Universe
I cant remember what its called exactly, but I watched a show that explained it...think it was Through the Wormhole.

They explained it in such a way that made some sense anyway. Basically they made a map that shows the radio active decay (I think thats what it was) of the universe, showing which places were more active and which were less active.

In this way, they could trace elements back to a single point in our universe (yes, using mostly math equations, and not actual tangible evidence).

I believe in the big bang, especially when you submit the multiverse theory into it.

However, i do believe that some sort of "creator" created the big bang, and had a hand in forming life...

Everything is theory before it's accepted by the majority through undeniable evidence. If your pea-brain can't accept that then get off the net, go outside and get some fresh air.

you need re examine what you consider science to be, and more so, how it deals with frontiers/cutting edge stuff.

or you could, in your frustration, accept a genie blinked the whole lot together in seven days.

Maybe things like WWII will end up like the Atlantis wars or whatever in the very distant future.

Maybe in the end nothing but legend remains.
