This is a camera shot of the White Island volcano, New Zealand, taken last night (Its a screen shot)

I look at these often, but never before have i seen this star showing up like this..

The camera faces towards the west-ish direction, so is this the same huge star that everyone has been seeing..

Here are the rest of the camera shots from last night.

(they will roll over, so anyone looking at them after today will see new, more recent photos)

Wtf are you on about? where was Astro mentioned for that kind of reply?

Anyway OP, you are seriously worrying with the threads you have lately, I think you need to step back from GLP for a bit and re-evaluate your head.

The star looks like it could be the moon. The 'black dot' is reflection, you can clearly see the bloody webcam reflection on a window!

Correct, that is the moon.
At 9:15pm on 30 April, Venus had set hours earlier.

yeah, I know. its absolutley massive and bright. Ive been watching "venus" for a long time, all my life, and never seen it like it is..or like its been now for a few years, each yr though its getting bigger brighter closer or something. but theres something else I find weird, why do I see it late night ( west-from 9.30pm to 12.30 am , before it dips behind the buildings in front of me)..isnt "venus" suppose to be a morning-evening star?

oh..and please dont tell me its the moon, the moon hangs for awhile above it, then dips and passes it by..but "venus" still hangs around until the time I mentioned in above post.

The moon was not long before setting at that time.
Yes, it is higher in the sky today. That's what the moon does. It is a bit less than an hour later in the sky each day.

Do you have Stellarium? If not, you should get it. Use it. Reduce the number of threads you start that draw ridicule.

Though, to be fair, getting a pin for a lens flare was pretty awesome! W00t!

Cheers

anyway, if it is "venus" then something is happening to it. its going thru some sort of transformation perhaps. perhaps thats what the mayans knew. thats venus goes thru a transformation every so and so cycle, and when it does it has the potential to seriously effect Earth..

And offsasnt setting when the pic was taken last night either, as you say, it differs by a bit under an hour. .

So last night and tonight the moon cannot be in such different places..

haha. anyway, at least what Im seeing is definitely NOT the moon, the moon can be seen at the same time as "venus"..Ive watched the whole proceedure thru out the nite many times.
and "venus" is MASSIVE..at midnight, right in front of my bedroom window, I watch the both..first the moon is above it, then it dips below it as "venus" stays as I have said until it dips below the buildings, after midnight.

Yes, about the white island camera. Kent was an extremely knowledgable and very, very kind gentlman. I use that term in the true sense of the word.
He died some years back, which was a great loss.

The moon is not "overhead". It is near zero declination just now which means it is near the ecliptic. No point on the ecliptic is "overhead" any place in New Zealand at any time.

Get Stellarium and verify these matters for your self.
