ADL Teams With Internet Industry Leaders To Convene Cyberhate Working Group

New York, NY, May 10, 2012 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will convene a new working group on cyberhate that will bring together Internet industry leaders and others to probe the roots of the problem and develop new solutions to address it head-on.

The Task Force on Internet Hate, created by the Inter-parliamentary Coalition for Combating Anti-Semitism (ICCA), formally approved a motion May 7 establishing the "Anti-Cyberhate Working Group," during their meeting under the auspices of the Stanford Center for Internet and Society in Palo Alto, California.

"We are honored to have been appointed by the ICCA to convene this important working group," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "Internet hate continues to have a global impact on civil society and a transparent process to respond to it will lead to reviewability and consistency. We welcome the commitments of Google and Facebook to participate in this dialogue to combat online hate speech, Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism.

There's an incredible amount of anti-Semitism online. Usually it's based on anti-Zionism, which is really just thinly disguised anti-Semitism. Next, it's the bs right wing conspiracy theories that falsely blame Israel and the jewish people for anything and everything, exactly as the nazi's did before and during WWII. Because so many people are so stupid and ignorant they buy into these bs conspiracy theories with no clue as to their hate based roots, and parrot them with no clue as to what they're talking about.

People are extremely ignorant of the dangers of incitement to hate via using fake conspiracy theories, and how this incitement directly leads to violence or worse. People are also incredibly ignorant about the horrific recent history of anti-Semitism, which was provoked by falsely vilifying the jewish people for many things they had nothing to do with.

The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) is a proposed law in the United States which would allow for the sharing of internet traffic information between the U.S. government and certain technology and manufacturing companies. The stated aim of the bill is to help the U.S Government investigate cyber threats and ensure the security of networks against cyber attack.
