i was reported dead in our local newspaper but everything slowed down , the car, the debris , i should never have been in the car, my father was driving and being with dad at young age i was without thought
i clearly watched the car in silence very slowly fall apart around me as all things slowly turned to the right
i didn`t turn, all things did as they drifted as weightless in space
also it was night but i could see everything inside the car as if it was daylight
then i was in a field on my back , i sat upright and the wreck was about 50 ft away and i was uninjured apart from a bruised right knee
we had gone through the brick wall of a humped back bridge just on the outskirts of a main market town so it got some attention and for some reason, 3 days later, when the weekly came out, the front page had a pic of the bridge and car wreck with the headline, local father and son killed
my father was stone drunk and only cut his tongue
he looked dead but he had passed out from the alcohol

next week edition the placed a small apology on an inside page

I suppose I'll start then...


One time in particular stands out to me.

I was at University at the time. There is a peak quite close to here called Mary's Peak.

I had heard it had snowed and want to see if I could take my snowboard up there. I invited a friend of mine.

I was driving my 86 CRX and I noticed after some time that I was driving up hill in two grooves of snow.

I mentioned said to the passenger and he said it was fine and to keep going.

A bit further on, I realized that the height of the snow was scraping on my bumper.

I then stopped and said...How am I am suppose to turn around?


Do note that I was a bit of prolific snowboarder as a teen and had driven said CRX in the snow many times.


We then got out and proceeded to dig a path for me to turn around. I had chains in my car but did not really know how to put them on.

By this time it was dark.

I turned my car around and proceeded down the hill when I heard a sound and knew there was a problem.

I got out again and saw that my chain had wrapped itself completely around the axle.

I tried to pry it free and it was frozen on. My hand were already cold from putting the chains on earlier. I couldn't even budge them.

I then got back into my car and gauged my situation. I was in the dark. In the snow. And stuck.


Not 30 seconds later I see these lights in my rear view.

They pulled up along side and I got out.


It was the person who greeted me who I have wondered about ever since.

He had his hood up, like a hoodie. But...he had no face. It was completely blacked out.

It was dark..but not that dark outside. I stared at him trying to distinguish any type of feature as I had never experienced such.

He told me to get back in my car and in less than a few seconds he had it unwrapped and back on my tire.

He then said a few words, got back in the passenger side of the vehicle he was in...and drove away.


I was so shocked by the occurance and how it played out...that I remember it all these years later.


He had no face...but I could hear his voice. He was kind. And he helped me with speed unimaginable.

Thanks to that dark stranger...I didn't have to spend the night on the mountain stuck in the snow.

I had nightmares of burnings before. I heard a voice say Salem.
