phoenixe User ID: 21658192 Germany 08/13/2012 07:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | earthworms come out for different reasons choose your favourite from the following: 1 too much rain - they are afraid to drown 2 rainworm love - maybe it´s time to get a nice rainworm girl? 3 vibrations/gas in the ground - if their environment changes, vibrates (which feels like much rain in the soil) or oxigen/gas levels changes, they come outside 4 vibration on top of soil - little tremors caused by lawn mower etc makes them come out, too. so if it´s just at one spot, I won´t be concerned. if you see rainworms coming out everywhere when there´s obviously no reason (1,2,4) - I´ll go with reason 3 and be a bit suspicious. drought will be no reason, they will only go deeper in the ground where it is still humid enough for them. |

Ishikawa prefecture is facing Japan / Korea Sea. Mr. Kobayashi is living near the parking lot. He comments he found earthworms dead in the evening of 8/5/2012. It kept increasing and now it’s scattered around in the 250 m2 of the area. There are about 500 dead worms in the space for one car. Because 16 cars can park there, more than 10,000 worms are dead in the whole area including the passageway. A former director of an insect’s museum visited the place to comment it is rare to see this many worms dead at once. It’s an ordinary type of earthworm. He assumes they came from the near greenery to the parking lot for water because of the intense heat and died there. Citizens nearby the area talks, “I haven’t seen such a thing. Is this because of the intense heat?” or “It may increase more.” –Fukushima Diary [link to theextinctionprotocol.wordpress.com] |
