Bc it seriously annoyed me. I'm from the area and everyone is sound asleep and these morans are wandering around in a rainstorm acting like its armageddon.

Usually (but not always) they turn out to be non-events.

....I realize they're out there in the middle of the road for the "drama effect"...but one of these day's we'll witness a live decapitation or impalement...& that will put a stop to that stoooopidity.....

Agree. They frequently come up to my area for winter events and during one I was hauling wood. Watched the news later and the weather channel dude was being all dramatic. Had a huge parka on and getting all worked up.

Weather Channel has turned into total douchebag.

TV weather is about ratings and entertainment.
When we have a snow storm they always play it up like it's the storm of the century. Then we get just a few inches of snow.

That is because all talking heads MUST graduate from
"THE WILLIAM SHATNER SCHOOL OF OVERACTING"

The Weather Channel sucks and has sucked ever since
they got a big head and started believing "weather"
was entertainment.

Everyone has an agenda....hype the weather more people watch and higher advertising revenues for weather channel.....storm preparedness stores increase sales....government gets to declare emergency with amped up fears and get more control.

Here is a serious question ....if I live on the beach and a cat 5 hurricaine is coming can I choose to die in my home if that is my desire.....or can I be forcibly removed from my residence??

we get wind events here in the great plains that rival tropical storms dozens of times a year. Granted if you happened to get under the 60+ mph sustained winds, that will do some damage, but yeah, weather events are overhyped usually. Severe weather, winter storms, every event is used as some excuse for global climate change even though this type of stuff has always gone on. Granted this year has been particularly warm, it was caused by a high pressure system hanging around in just the right place.

It's mostly done because sensationalist reporting increases ratings. Don't kid yourself into thinking it's really any more then that.

Weather channel itself seems stuck in the 1990's with their outdated, made for standard def television weather graphics.

Our local news channels do the same thing. I was laughing the other day because they pre-empted a regular program to cover some rain in our area. They do the weather three times on the nightly local news.

Just turn down the sound and wait for the Stephanie-Abrams-wearing-a-soaked-tshirt hurricane report.
