Is it wrong not to go???? You do what you feel you have to do to STAY ALIVE! That's not wrong but human nature. Linemen were murdered down there in 2005?? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22916478 Geez, didn't know that. I believe 3 were. I donated a paycheck to 3 families of line workers that were killed. I believe it was on one crew, the same day my incident happened. They never caught the people. The day after they created curfews for the line workers, were they could not be out on the lines past a certain time. |

Question at the bottom. I am a lineman for a power company, and my employer is pissed because I decided to take some time off to get a abdominal hernia fixed, since they wanted us to go to New Orleans. I feel bad that my crew is heading there now, but I told them I would never again work a storm in New Orleans ever again. I have never worked a area and been scared for my life before. August 30th 2005 was our first day out there. And had to run from gunfire twice. The second time a 9mm bullet hit me in the back. Thankfully it was near my shoulder and did not hit anything major. It was a group of people screaming "kill those white cracker bitches". I have been working with this hernia for a while now anyways. And I am feeling really guilty about leaving my crew. But they wanted the overtime. Lots of crews have worked down there, I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But a few lineman were killed down there in 2005. Quoting: Hanzpoo Is it wrong for me not to go? It's wrong for you to not collect work-comp. |

After Katrina the Civil Air Patrol deployed over New Orleans to spot trapped survivors for the Coast Guard rescue helicopters. Several of our planes were shot at, as was the CG choppers. No one was hit, thank God, but I wouldn't go there again to help then SOB's. |
