Quoting: Nanna-Ree Forecasters warned last night that the entire country was set to shiver with bitterly cold winds, harsh frosts and snow, all likely to last into December. The cold snap comes as the UK endures one of the most chilly Novembers on record with warnings that a repeat of the big freeze of 2010, which saw 30 inches of snow in parts, is possible. We never had any snow at all after last christmas and only a bit before. |

[link to www.express.co.uk] BRITAIN will grind to a halt within weeks as the most savage freeze for a century begins. Temperatures will fall as low as minus 20C in rural areas, forecasters warned last night, while heavy snow and “potentially dangerous” blizzards will close roads and cripple rail networks. James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, said: “We are looking at some of the coldest and snowiest conditions in at least 100 years. This is most likely to occur in the December to January period with the potential for widespread major snowfall across the country............. Two years ago we had snow on the ground for nearly 8 weeks because it was so cold it never melted. HATED IT. I'm going to buy the best thermal underwear I can find. Its the cold summer and cold sept/oct which are making me think that by mid december its probably going to be hitting -10 every day. Wouldn't shock me if it did hit -20 in late dec early jan. Once its lower than -10 its not to be scoffed at..... as unfit persons really shouldn't be moving around so much, especially not alone in isolated areas. You have only got to slip and hurt yourself or get wet an exposure will kill you. |

The Met Office last night issued severe weather warnings for heavy rain in parts of the North-west on Monday and Tuesday..... Jonathan Powell, of Vantage Weather Services, warned: “The ground is already saturated from the wet summer, so flooding is a definite risk next week......" so, if it freezes ontop of all that water it could be a nightmare...plus if it snows then it will add to the flooding problem....
