Every day at WuW, we see “comments” submitted on our articles that are blatantly composed by trolls. Lengthy, well written comments designed to steer the conversation in a pro-government, pro-status quo direction. They pose as readers and first-time commenters, but post essay length commentary quoting “expert” government research on a range of topics, question those who question the government line, and urge us to believe in the path chosen for us by our trusted leaders. If we believe them, everything is and has always been ok. No further questions need to be asked. Those who do are paranoid.

Site moderation is something we take very seriously at WuW. We offer a platform for different voices and opinions to be expressed, and it is therefore quite rare that we suppress a reader’s comment from being posted on the site. But we’re not stupid, and we won’t let our site be undermined. We know government trolls and paid disinformation shills are real, and we can pick their work a mile away. It has a certain… quality. And they prove us right! The troll comments we supress are often re-submitted, again and again, word for word, from a variety of reader aliases and email addresses."

This then leads to the next question -- If there are shills to discredit disinfo and shills to discredit real leaked info, who do you trust?

I've turned to an old childhood favorite movie, The Labyrinth. (Yes, with David Bowie.. *grumble*)

There were 2 doors, one lead to certain doom. In front of each door was a creature. The one on the right always told the truth and the one of the left always told a lie. Each door would tell you they were the way -- But how can you know.. for sure?

It was all in the question:
<To the left door> "What would the other door tell me is the Doom Door?"

Then you take the opposite door to the answer, right?

Nothing can be fully trusted. That has been my opinion for quite a long time. Nice find and sounds like an interesting game.

Not necessarily...

Left door always lies.
Right door always tells the truth.

When asked the question, the replies are:
For the Left Door -- Always lying, cannot tell you the truth that the Right door would tell you the Left door is bad. Therefore, it'll tell you the bad door is itself -- not a lie, as it's using the right door's perspective to tell a lie from.

For the Right Door -- Always telling truth, will tell you the truth of what the Left Door will tell you. (See above)

It's confusing, for sure.

Ultimately, the effect is if you ask "Who would the other one say is evil?" to one who always lies and one who always tells the truth, the "Truth" will be that they both point to the evil one.

Maybe that's why "evil cannot win"?

Agreed that nothing can be fully trusted. I work on an 80/20 rule as that's been doing pretty good for me so far.
