Sun looks bigger?
I'm not sure if I'm just imagining it, but on my way in this morning the sun looked bigger. Just looking at it on my way in to work... figured I'd post to see if anyone else noticed.

Re: Sun looks bigger?
It would seem that the Earth is closest to the sun in summer ..

But the opposite is true, In Dec-Jan the Earth is nearest the Sun while in July it’s farthest away ..

I always thought it was the opposite. How much closer to the sun are we now vs. summer? like 5% or so?

Re: Sun looks bigger?
No its winter ... When its winter we are in the longer tale in the solarcell further away from the sun.

In the summer we stand infront of the suns galaxy direction.

The axial tilt of the Earth is what creates the seasonal fluctuation:

Re: Sun looks bigger?
I understand that the shift in Earth's axis is what gives us seasons, the distance difference, isn't large enough to make a significant temperature change. I'm well aware of that, I just never realized that we're actually closer to the sun in December than in June. Learn something new every day.
