Homeless Man living in tent in the middle of Boston Harbor
BOSTON (WHDH) -- A man has set up a tent on what appears to be a small barge in the middle of Boston Harbor.

The man is currently living in a tent in the harbor near Logan Airport. A canoe appears to be tied up beside the tent.

U.S. Coast Guard officials told 7News they are aware of the man, but also say he is not breaking any laws.

Apparently, Coast Guard and police say he's not actually breaking any laws.

Well done... But you cant have the europe influence states like New York, Jersey, and Massachusetts tolerate this. They will release their hounds and create a new law to stop this...

Fuck I hate this place.

At some point they will change his status from recreational use to permanent dwelling and arrest him...

What about the state police cop [who makes $200,000/year] living in his RV on state land on the waterfront? He even gets his electricity from illegal hook up to state property and they aren't doing anything to him, either.

Provided he doesn't hit any boats or litter in the water, is it really a big deal?
We were meant to live for so much more, have we lost ourselves?

A lot safer to live off shore. There are hundreds of thousand homeless now. No point in using the cops to round them up. He'll move when it gets too cold.

I support this man's right to exist, but if I were him, I would've went out in the woods outside of town somewhere. Does he have a fishing pole?

Homeless need the cities as thats where all the resources are to them.

collect cans, handouts, searching thru trash, and outreach organizations, etc...

I'd like to see OCCUPY try this :)

If you think you can survive with nothing more than a fishing pole, you're going to be in for one hell of a rude awakening.

Re: Homeless Man living in tent in the middle of Boston Harbor
Poor guy is out there on a barge, probably cold most of the time. Maybe he can catch a fish and cook it over a small stove or something? At least he's safe. He doesn't have to worry about some psycho stabbing him as he naps on a park bench or goes into a shelter and there's some crazy there with a knife or gun. Crack pipe? I doubt it. Crack isn't cheap. Sounds like he's made some pretty sane decisions for the time being. Now if the government leaves him alone he's got a month or two until it really gets cold and he's in danger of freezing to death at night. Beats the shit out of a cardboard box in a doorway someplace! Pray for him. He sounds like he's trying to dot he best he knows how and he's not hurting anyone else or asking for anything. I wish I knew how to send him a good warm polar rated sleeping bag and a little camp stove. I doubt the Fedex drivers would deliver to "the man on the barge living in Boston Harbor" - although who knows? They might just for the PR. I've got a garage full of camping gear that we don't use and it's sitting out there rotting year after year and being neglected. Thank heaven's they're sealed in vac pouches. Maybe they have a chance of surviving for a while...
