Hot bath, submerse your chest for several minutes before bed. If you have vicks rub then put on your chest then cover with tshirt and sweatshirt, try to sweat it out. Lots of water and tea. If it's brown/yellow/green it usually means you have a chest infection and need antibiotics. Even a dry cough can progress into a chesty cough. If you've had the cough for more than a few weeks, you should see a doctor. You don't want it turning into bronchitis or pneumonia. |

The cough was horrific, I coughed constantly, day and night, for about a week, no sleep, no nothing. Tried every over the counter medication and it didn't work, tried all sorts of home remedies and they didn't work. To be honest the only thing that ever works for me is tussionex or phenergan/codeine cough syrup. Vicodine works as well. Unfortunately you have to go to a doc to get it. And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Quoting: Fun-Da-Mental Not very tasty but a killer remedy for a cough. ^^^this^^^. I am on day 11 of this horrible chest and head congestion, cough, razor blade sore throat. I am on the mend though. This onion stuff is antibacterial as well as it breaks up the mess. I used brown sugar though and had teaspoons of the syrup every couple hours till I ran out. I also slathered myself in vicks repeatedly, took lots of hot baths, drank hot toddies (with tequila instead of whiskey), salt water gargles, and ibuprofen. Feel better soon! |
