You are wrong! If you are relying on others to do some aspect of preparedness, then you are setting yourself up for failure. You do everything you can to protect and feed yourself. If others have something to contribute then that is considered a blessing!

Youre right, OP - for a long-term SHTF or TEOTWAWKI situation anyway.

For short-term situations where order will be restored in a few months or less, you can be a loner and do well enough.

However, for longer-term SHTF or TEOTWAWKI situations, a community-based survival approach is the only way to go. In this situation, isolationists are gonna have a very dangerous, lonely, hard time, and most wont survive like this.

The TV show Jericho was a good example of this community-based survival approach.

Those societies who do prepare are always raped in the end by governments or their enemies, such societies need to be in tune with their Creator which is hard to find.

It may be a truism that societies have to be social.

That's why they are pitting any possible constituency against everyone else, to prevent any cohesion forming an effective opposition of any sort.
