Well, my son, who works in a local grocery store says that food stamp recipients next year are in for a rude awakening. He told me that there was a meeting and the rules of what a person can buy will be changed. No more sodas, no more junk food,candy, chips, etc... All you will get is fresh fruits and veggies, fresh and frozen fruits and veggies, fresh meat, dairy, bread and bottled water. But he says that junk food like chips, sodas, and candy, etc, ice cream, cakes, cookies, will not be allowed to be bought with food stamps. I told him good. If they won't be responsible for themselves, the state will make them responsible. I asked him about the processed food like hamburger Helper, He didn't answer, so I don't think he heard me, but to be honest, who the hell knows anymore?

Welfare is not food stamps. Welfare is govt money that is paid to those folks who have small children to pay for their rent, lights, heat, etc...

Food stamps is not welfare! That is a food supplemental program to help feed people who have fallen on hard times. Once you get a full-time paying job, they immediately cut you off. If you get a part time job under 30 hrs, they will still give you help, but it depends on your income level and how many people live in your house. 1 person who qualifies is allowed to get food stamps if they make 1157/mnth. And it goes up from there.

Google the guidelines to find out what the income limitations are and for how many people.

I have never played the lottery so I don't know. But I agree with the concept. The money should go to pay bills, not play goddamn games.

All welfare should be like the WIC program where they tell you exactly what can be purchased and in what quantity...no junk food or spending on anything but necessities, and generic everything, no name brands.

That's right. That way you save money,too. They don't need that shit. I see it all the time. One black woman was pissed and told me she worked for the county and it pissed her off to see one of her own kind with a damn grocery cart full with all kinds of shit and the lady had three brats running around. I just laughed. The responsible ones are tired of it,too.

They shouldn't give them the money. The state or county should make sure the rent and the lights or gas is paid by sending the payments to the landlord, the light or gas company,etc...

They're doing that with Energy Assistance checks they used to mail out now. They sending them to the power companies or the gas companies. Pissed a lot of folks off.
