This looks like it was on CBS Sunday Morning and that program has been on forever. MSM airing it gives it weight and validity like we are supposed to actually consider this point of view. I mean, seriously?? I'm sick.

Joseph McCarthy was right all along. He had those commies shitting their pants back then. Of course, over time, the newly branded 'liberal/progressive hacks turned public sentiment against McCarthy.

He's got some interesting conclusions at the end, which are wrong for a few basic reasons-

1: We are not, and have never been at the federal level, a democracy. We are a REPRESENTATIVE democracy, with specific protections in place against the tyranny of pure democracy.

(Okay, that's complicated, but it's important and not hard at all to find information on. go, thou, and google)

2: The constitution CHANGES. *WE* change it. Yeah, it's pretty hard to change (on purpose, part of the protection against hysterical mob democracy)

3: He has not replacement for a source - His idea is to replace the rule of law (which I have enough issues with) with the rule of "democracy of the day"- with "current event beliefs"


And, seriously- "If Obama wasnt a US citizen, SO WHAT?" ?!?!?!

Now, personally, I think his little segment is valuable to get people thinking, what *does* the Constitution do for us? What *would* happen if we got rid of it and ran things the way the French did after their revolution?

A Constitutional republic is a variety of representative democracy (as opposed to direct democracy) with an elective head of state. ( constitutional monarchy such as you find in England is a non republican representative democracy, to give you some contrast)
