In fact providers in this nation have until the end of 2014 to get to stage 2 and the deadline is by 2015 that they have to prove meaningful use. This means everyone in this nation has to be charting patient data electronically. If they fail to do this, they will be fined hugely by the government, as the government will refuse to reimburse medicare completely (down to 1%). Every provider in this nation is forced to have your health information electronic!

Also, to incentivize (is that a word? sue me) further, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (AKA the Stimulus Bill put out by OBAMA) providers can get back over 44,000 to 64,000 PER DOCTOR in extra incentive cash just by implementing their EMRs on target meeting targets and deadlines. (Can you imagine how much money that is for healthcare systems that have 1000's of doctors in them?)

This is a huge push right now happening in this nation. Everything is electronic.
