UndercoverAlien User ID: 33964977 Brazil 02/09/2013 01:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This reminds me of the excellent B grade movie "Kingdom of the Spiders" with William Shatner - available on U Tube. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29310915 I've never saw this shit in my life and I lived most of life near a rain forest reservation. I don't recognize those species, I never saw spiders living in such big communities, neither making webs covering such large range in open spaces. I'm downloading that video and I'm gonna try to find out more info about it. Nice post OP. "Do or do not. There is no try." (Yoda) |

Maybe they know something is coming. That is very weird for them all to be doing it together. Quakes maybe. They feel the ground and trees. Or, if there is some lava flow down there, the ground could be heating up. Dude get a book. There's no "lava flow" or active volcanoes in Brazil whatsoever. "Do or do not. There is no try." (Yoda) |

UndercoverAlien User ID: 33964977 Brazil 02/09/2013 02:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Parawixia bistriata aka "social spider". Parawixia bistriata is a social spider found in the South American “cerrados”. The injection of its venom produces irreversible and dose-dependent paralysis in termites (Fontana et al., 2000). Intracerebroventricular injection of the venom as well as of its more purified fractions (including P. bistriata fraction AII; FrPbAII), abolishes convulsive tonic-clonic seizures induced by picrotoxin, bicuculline, and pentylenetetrazole in rats (Cairrão et al., 2002). In addition, a previous report has shown that a highly purified component of the venom (P. bistriata toxin 1.2.3) (Mr = 437) enhances glutamate uptake by a mechanism that seems to be independent from glutamate receptor activation. In addition, P. bistriata toxin 1.2.3 prevents neuronal death during retinal ischemia by enhancing glutamate clearance (Fontana et al., 2003). Quoting: [link to molpharm.aspetjournals.org] More: [link to www.jstor.org] Brazilian biologists are using the venom of this species fo developing drugs anti-seizures and for decreasing effects of Alzheimer and degenerative diseases. The article says it's a type of spider found only in Brazilian prairies but they have been recorded also in the Amazon. Last Edited by UndercoverAlien on 02/09/2013 02:27 AM "Do or do not. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11346300 Animals have more sense then human. **OR** it's just their hunting modus operandi, covering a huge area as high as possible, so that their webs can trap a mass number of bugs on the flight. But naaaah, it HAS TO BE some impending doom. Last Edited by UndercoverAlien on 02/09/2013 04:07 AM "Do or do not. There is no try." (Yoda) |

There could be some ancient or new pool deep under ground, even a vein running through. Not saying it's 10 ft down. It could be miles down. No active volcano required. |
