Real reason behind DEA prescription drop off?
Got a notice from my neighborhood civic group -

DEA sponsoring neighborhood prescription drug drop off.

Nobody looks at the names on the labels - yeah sure.

What is up with this?

To id folks who have ever been on certain types of scripts?

Something nefarious, no doubt.

tell everyone to peel off the labels.

Anyways, wasn't there a recent news article telling the public that expired prescription drugs were still good and even paramedics were starting to use them because of some med shortages? Some are good for up to 40 yrs after exp date

Peel the labels off. I know someone who helps with that program locally, and it's main purpose is to eliminate people flushing or throwing them away. As well as eliminating excess rx drugs in household that might have teens who might help themselves. Besides that there is already a record for everyone who is or has ever, in the last 20-30 years, taken a prescription drug. Sorry they already have you on file.

Blast from the past:

NOBLESVILLE, Indiana - A teenaged gang robbed a vet's office looking for the heroin-like painkiller OxyContin. Instead they stole Oxytocin, which is used to induce childbirth. This drug has another quirky affect on men, it causes them to lactate. The actual drug they were looking for, Oxycontin, has been linked to several deaths, and is considered a major health problem in several parts of the country. According to Sergeant Eddie Moore, of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, these brainiacs also took nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, from another facility. The youths were arrested and charged with burglary and theft.
