The easiest way to tell is when the Media goes on the attack to discredit or marginalize anyone who points out that the 'official story' doesn't hold water.

Another is when you can track trends in reporting. This takes a lot of effort, but is worth it in the long run. I track things like Anti-gun stories vs. Pro-2nd Amendment stories; Government-praising stories vs. Government-critical stories; Criticality (and lack thereof - or even a lack of mentioning of significant events) of various special interest groups including NAACP, Civitas, religious organizations (Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Atheism, etc); Reporting of education system policies and courses; Weather Doctrine (Global Warming being the excuse for everything or anything); even Who is highlighted in the sports programming

I have found that recently most local media has gone from local news to full on propaganda. One Charlotte NC station even goes so far as just using iPads to report on what other major news sources are reporting! No journalism whatsoever.

One disturbing trend that has taken place in the US is the use of newscasters to mold people's thoughts and emotions.

There is no more objective reporting of news. The newscasters have a nasty sneering tone and roll their eyes and shake their heads and such whenever they want us to feel hatred for any person or organization. This happens very often now, and they have these fake conversations with each other about how such and such is good or bad, and they really play it up trying to get their audience all worked up.

It's hard to put in words, but it's like they are toying with the thinking patterns of the population.

Also they will repeat words and phrases over and over to make their point.

( rolling eyes and head shake ) they do this alot in Hannity show, specially that asian girl meng malkin or whatever her name is.
