We do without many conveniences, and endure many hardships to live in the wilderness. For example, the nearest hospital to us is forty miles away, the nearest cop is also that far. We don't have and never will have a cell phone signal. The nearest grocery store is about 25 miles away. There is a lot we do without, in order to be as far away from YOU PEOPLE as we can get. Now YOU in contrast have every convenience at your fingertips. You would be absolutely disgusted and revolted to live as we do, with our guns and all. BUT If TSHTF, you expect to come rolling up the mountains and expect us to share our food and water and shelter with you? Go rent a copy of "WRONG TURN", and prepare to "shelter in place". |

Being fictional, it's hard to assess the accuracy but it will definitely get you thinking that was a GREAT book, and the author is a pretty intelligent guy and after reading it, I think it is fairly realistic and logical. There were a few things I thought were maybe inaccurate, like how well the protagonist's community held together. And the fact the convenience store was still selling shit and the owner hadn't shut down and hoarded what he had left. |

I would hope if everything crashes, we all learn the painfully hard lesson and rebuild a better society for the future...if it's Mad Max, what's the point?? |

Same here in the north. You city folk would have a hard time adjusting to mountain life. In the winter it is colder and much wetter. Us mountain folk are used to it, and we know the woods like the back of our hand. Plus we are in tune with the animal population and know what to expect. It would be a harsh learning curve for those used to creature comforts and probably fatal to most who are not prepared. |
