We received a complaint affirming that activities associated with your IP address may infringe intellectual property rights of a third party.

We would like to remind you that the reproduction of protected material constitutes an infringement to the exclusive right of its holder. This behaviour could expose you to legal action from this third party and to a judgment to pay damages. Generally, you must obtain the permission or rights in order to reproduce any protected material.

Please note that Videotron will not take any action against you, but if legal actions were to be brought against you by the plaintiff, we would have no other alternative except than hold you responsible for any damages you may have caused. We thus ask you to cease any activity that may be considered an infringement of a third party’s intellectual property rights.

Not sure why people torrent movies or music. the RIAA and MPAA are looking for the same movies and attach bots to those torrents. Even so called private sites are not safe.

i read a few months ago a lot of isp companies will start to track illegal downloads.

fortunately charter was not on that list.

It's called the 3 strikes law but actually tame compared to what they were trying to do before. Like I said OP,don't worry yourself about it,you will be fine.

its not a copyright issue, because you didn't pay for the torrent.

OP - read the words carefully. Inform your ISP that you are not reproducing any material in any form whatsoever. Inform them that you do not like receiving accusatory emails implying that you have done something you have not. Ask your ISP to give you the proof of you having been the one to reproduce copyrighted material. Ask them to prove that you were in possession of an original copy of the material assumed to have been reproduced. Ask them to kindly fuck off with the emails until they can do those two things.

Remind them of all of the other ISPs you have the option of transferring your business to. Remind them that data packets don't come with failsafe ways to prove which human being was pushing which buttons.

You're not stealing anything with torrents, you're making a copy. Just like 20 years ago when people would copy cassettes or VHS movies. There is no physical product it's just data.

You do realize that they are in the wrong, because they are stepping right by the torrent provider and their huge website of torrent listings, and instead picking on one user.

if a giant warehouse was offering copies of your stuff and thousands of other peoples stuff, for the taking to millions of people.. would you peruse one of those million people that took something or would you peruse the owners of the warehouse???
