In LA back in 2002/03/04 we were paying (small group coverage) for a family (spouses, children under 23) almost 2100 per month for two employees who were then over 50. Both were execs of the company and we paid it gladly. But those of you who are bitching about 500 or 750 per month do not realize how expensive coverage really is. Also, one serious accident or illness and if you do not have it, you will wind up bankrupt. Period. Even the very rich carry policies to cover 'catastrophic" levels of accident or injuries. They know that medical bills can run into the millions easily. Sometimes even into tens of millions.

And you think that the price of medical care makes sense? Do you think that's air your breathing Neo?

Then they took away your deductible.
Then they added a few more taxes and penalties.

You now pay about 150%-300% more for your insurance.

And after you pay up to $14,000 per year in deductibles, the actual care youare insured for is 10x less(which is bad to start with), on top of the fact that all your getting is vaccines, garbage lipitor, and paxil rammed down your throat...nothing that actually supports health.

You should be THANKING YOUR LUCKY STARS that YOUR SHARE of a family plan is only going up $652/yr.

My SINGLE person self bought plan is going up $325 PER MONTH and what is covered dropped by 30% (in dollars if something happens)!!

(the total bill for most family plans cost a company about $24,000/yr, with the costs still climbing this year at about an 8% to 10% rate ... How much of that $24,000 are YOU paying?)

They didn't take away the deductible. Most people have had their deductible increase sharply.

He's paying for all of it with his time. It's part of his pay package, don't bitch and call him spoiled because your employer doesn't. If his base salary is $60k and they pay $24k in insurance, they are paying him $82k to do the work he does. Make sense?

BTW OP, if I were to pay a fine it would be more than what your increased premium amount will be. A 1% fine will be double what you are going to be paying. Go tell your sob story to Obama voters because I know you're getting off easy!

When everyone just decides to opt for the fine (erhm, "tax") because it is substantially cheaper than paying for health insurance, Obamacare will be declared a failure (it already is to those in the know) and be repealed (or replaced).

Ha! My company went to $935/month for family. I switched the wife and kids to Golden Rule, with dental for about $300 a month.

Still haven't heard from them on any increases from bammycare.. Waiting..

the reality is mankind got by thousands of year before their was insurance, they are counting on idiots to pay whatever ransom they demand which allows them to keep jacking up your price

It's health care... it's not like you've got to rebuild the space shuttle each visit. How much could/should healthcare really cost is the question! Especially now that hospitals won't have to eat costs by uninsured... ??

My insurance is going to go up $30 a week just for me.

We are a family of 4 and pay 658 per month now. As of January if we want to stay with our ins BC/BS our premium is going up to 1866. per month for the same coverage.

I cant afford that since we are self pay due to the fact that my husband has his own one man show company, so we are going to have to only get hospitalization coverage after the new year and our premium will go down 20 bucks from what we pay now. We will lose all Dr office visit, prescriptions, and diagnostic tests/lab test coverage.

I think that plain old sucks, and all so I can do without and somebody who doesn't do shit has better coverage than we do and pays nothing.

Initially they me my premiums would go up 65%. Yesterday, I was told the final figure was 41.89 % - which really is 42 %. No one can tell me why. Socialism has been put upon us. The feds didn't close the border and now Obamacare is pushing the problem onto tax paying citizens.

Realize it is win-win for them. The tax makes up for all that destruction of our mfg base and a myriad of other outsourced jobs and our massive unemployment numbers. The fine makes up for all those missing in action taxpayers bashed with such glee around here.

I do agree though, it is better in many ways to do without since ACA supports nothing actually life-supporting. Only death-dealing. Just wait to see anxiety levels skyrocket and all that brings.

But no, I doubt cleanly there will be no repeal or even acknowledgement of the harm being done (still hasn't by either 'party' with their recent pointless dramas). They enjoy scaring us out of what little we have left in terms of human well being. They really do love to watch suffering.
