One time I had a girlfriend. She let me know 2 days before Thanksgiving her dad and sister were showing up. They were driving over from the Boise area. So I had to make something nice. She didn't care to help, just told me. Of course, I went about to 3 places. No fresh turkeys, just frozen ones. I told you that, to tell you this.

I ended up with a about a 6 pound beef shoulder roast. You know, not tender at all. I decided to get a bottle of Merlot, carrots, onions, and those little purple potatoes. The morning of, I got up about 5am. Seasoned up the roast, seared it in a pan, then put it int he slow cooker and poured the whole bottle of Merlot in. Let it go on low for 8 hours. Then last 2 hours I put all the carrots, potatoes and onions in. I had some sides of course. Her sister and dad loved it, like they were genuinely happy about the meal.

Later in the evening, he dad said, "so, you have to cook the roast again for Christmas". I don't think her sister and dad knew I just used to slow cooker. HEHEHE
