Discussion...
a cold front has moved to the southeast of a Bonham to Dallas to
Hamilton line. There have been some showers behind the front...
but the precipitation has been light so far. The heavy rain has
shifted to the southeast. The question now is how much will
redevelop tonight. Some of the computer models are re-generating
precipitation tonight farther north into metroplex. We have
canceled the watch along and northwest of a Cisco to Sherman
line. We contemplated canceling it for a larger area including
the metroplex...but given the uncertainty of how much will develop
tonight...we decided to hold off on that at this time. We will
re-assess for the afternoon forecast package. We are not
expecting any flash flooding in the metroplex...or other areas
north of a Waxahachie to Emory line this afternoon.

MORNING SATELLITE LOOPS SHOW THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE PATRICIA TRACKING RAPIDLY NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS NORTHERN MEXICO...APPROACHING DEEP SOUTH TX. 12Z MODEL SOLUTIONS ARE IN STRONG AGREEMENT THAT RAPID LOW LEVEL CYCLOGENESIS WILL OCCUR AS THE UPPER VORTICITY CENTER APPROACHES THE MOIST/UNSTABLE AIR MASS OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO. LOW LEVEL WIND FIELDS ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN RAPIDLY THIS EVENING THROUGH TONIGHT...RESULTING IN FAVORABLE SHEAR PROFILES FOR ROTATING STORMS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. Thanks for the update! Tornado already touched down in Pearland, Texas not too long ago. People on both sides of the suburb are without power. Going to be an interesting evening and night. I have not seen a serious system like this since Allison.

Thread: TORNADO AND FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS TO TEXAS NOW: Weslaco, Texas is under a flash flood emergency!!!

I lived in Austin for 8 years. Worked at the PD there. The PD was next to a creek. Bad storm came through, I think left over from a Gulf hurricane and the creek rose and swept come of the cars parked near it from the PD. We got over 7" of rain at my house in about 18 hours. House was flooded. It was a mess.

That whole area from I-35 east can get massive amounts of rain.
