True. It's that heavy wet stuff too. They really screwed up the forecast with this one. Yesterday morning they said my area would get 1-3 inches. Now they're talking 9-12 inches!

You're right. Well done and the end did make me snort!

The worst forecast for us was on Christmas. they said less than 1 inch. We got a foot. They even said on the news how badly they missed that one!

Seems instead of getting better at forecasting the weather, they are getting worse!

We're MAYBE supposed to get some next week...finally...I hope. Total snowfall for my area is 3 inches so far, for the entire winter!...sigh.

Before today I think we were about the same.

I was so excited about that storm they were predicting for us a couple of weeks ago but it dipped south and missed us...UGH. I think I saw 2 flakes fly by the window as they were escaping.

Spring won't feel like spring if this crap keeps up.

Too keep in the mind of that thought. A lot of U.S. people vacation travel to warm places in the first of the new year. Because it's Winter here and all the holidays are done and over with.

Zika virus found in saliva, urine samples of patients in Brazil

Brazil's health institute has discovered active Zika virus in the saliva and urine samples of two patients. The finding adds to concerns that the infection can be spread through bodily fluids.

Scientists at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, a public health institute, said they analyzed the samples and used partial genome sequencing to identify the virus. Both samples were from people who were known to have Zika and were experiencing symptoms, Reuters reported.

The virus was deemed active, meaning it was able to cause infection, although the scientists said it was too early to determine whether Zika could be transmitted by saliva or urine.

California earthquake series in 2005 linked to oilfield wastewater injections, study finds

A 2005 spate of quakes in California's Central Valley almost certainly was triggered by oilfield injection underground, a study published Thursday said, in the first such link in California between oil and gas operations and earthquakes.

Researchers at the University of California at Santa Cruz, the University of Southern California and two French universities published their findings Thursday in a publication of the American Geophysical Union.

The research links a local surge in oil company injection of wastewater underground, peaking in 2005, with an unusual jump in seismic activity in and around the Tejon Oilfield in southern Kern County.

The Zika virus was manufactured to challenge and abolish laws against abortion.
