Watching this livestream in Brazil. Moon now starting to come out of the shadow. They panned back really far a few minutes ago when it was still all dark and red - could see Mars very clearly underneath.

Oh geez, I sure hope it continues in the opposite direction. What a mess that would be if they had to evacuate a bunch of animals!

That Whiskeytown Lake looks like a pretty place. You familiar with this area where the fires are? I love that cute little shotgun house they are trying to save in the pics. I hope they manage to save it, but that fire looked awfully close.

I am about 450 miles south of Redding and 175 miles north of San Diego. California is large.
Those photos are something else showing all of the devastation from the fire.

Well, so much for the blood moon over our town. It was hazy and pretty cloudy (especially at the position of the moon.)

Managed to take a picture of the Moon and Mars below her across the river, when the eclips was coming to an end. Not best quality, image from phone. Thank God for live streams.

Yes, I knew you weren't near there but wasn't sure if you were familiar with that area of the fires at all. Looks like gorgeous terrain. One of these days I really need to take a trip there to Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, etc. Damn job gets in the way of everything I would like to do :)

You ever been to Lake Arrowhead? That's a nice spot. I believe that's closer to you in the San Bernardino mountains.

Frightening and devastating. Looks like every year we see more and more of these fires across the globe.

Awww SHOOT! At least you got to see something. It's incredible how bright Mars is, even in your pic from a great distance. And I can tell the moon is a reddish color. I always love seeing the scenery in the Netherlands. Such a beautiful place.

No eclipse here, but I do look forward to seeing Mars nice and bright! Very clear here. Gorgeous day - only 84. Tomorrow and Sunday low 80s. Monday it might not break out of the high 70s! I plan to do a lot of sitting on my patio.

Yes! The most spectacular part in this for me was also seeing Mars. I pointed it out to a couple people and they were amazed and thought I was pulling their leg, lol.

We had another day at 100 today. Very rare for us. But storms are in the air, they expect thunder and rain tomorrow and after that temps back to around 85 and bright and sunny again for the coming 2 weeks.

Such an epic summer here, from April already till at least mid August. Very dry too, so some fires going on here and there. Nowhere near the devastating ones in Athens and Cali though. My thoughts are with the people over there.

And it must be so beautiful where you are as well. When I visited the States I always loved to wideness, the skies at night, so full of stars, much brighter than ours. So relaxing. So yeah, I can see you sitting there on your patio, just breathing in the beauty and cooler weather.
