Ipad Issue
I have an Ipad 1 that I received as a gift back in 2010. Recently, it has developed a really bizarre issue. I have googled it and I know from doing so that I am not the only one who has experienced this, but I have been unable to find a solution/resolution to it. I figured I would post it here just to see if any of my GLP friends have any ideas or have had the same issue.

Recently, the Ipad is no longer recognized when I plug it into the sync cable to my PC (or any PC for that matter). The problem there is I can no longer add any new content to the Ipad. It also will not charge if the Ipad is powered on. Here is where it gets interesting. If I power the Ipad off and plug the sync cable/power cable in, it will charge. So, I have found a way to keep it "alive", but as far as watching videos or adding new books or anything of the sort to it, it is presently useless. I have tried different sync cables, so it is not the cable. I also did a "restore" of settings to factory default to no help.

I am going to go to the local Apple store this afternoon and see what they have to say. Yes, it is out of warranty, but it is only 3 years old. It should not be experiencing these types of issues. And, with it being, apparently, a known issue, we will see what they do. Not holding my breath, but hopeful they will try to assist.

Re: Ipad Issue
I found this....(if you haven't tried it already)

"Cancel the sync if you haven't done so already. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, reboot the iPad and try again. This won't hurt either...close all apps on the iPad before you try syncing again.

In order to close all apps .... Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Quit iTunes and reboot the computer, now try again."

Re: Ipad Issue
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that this afternoon prior to going to Apple...honestly, though, I am not holding my breath that that will work but it is worth a shot.

I have been having that as well. Do you have the Ipad 1? The explanation for that that I have hearing is that the processor in the Ipad 1 just gets overwhelmed pretty easily.

Have you tried resetting your iPad? Press and hold down the home button and on/off button at the same time for a few seconds. That seems to work for me.

Re: Ipad Issue
Turn icloud on.
It won't need the PC to back up.

We have 3 gen1 3 minis and 2 iPhones.

We are appletards.

Gen 1 is slowly being phased out, a lot of the new apps don't work with it.
Safari and Facebook irritated me most with the gen1 now my mini is starting to do the same thing.

One of our gen 1's thinks the headphones are plugged in thus, giving no sound I've tried every possible solution, nothing works.
