Received a letter from CDC about taking Nat'l Immunization Survey

My parents got a phone call last night saying they were taking an immunization survey and they wanted to know if the children in the household had been vaccinated.

Of course, she said their youngest child is 37.

She didn't find it creepy, it freaks me out, though.

Wouldn't it be easier to get local health department vaccine records and then compare to census population numbers? For example, 50K vaccinations in a population of 76K people? The answer won't be exact, but then neither will the answers from addled grannies and stoner dudes.

I agree.. it is creepy. I feel like they are going to force us to get them if I answer "no". The timing is interesting, too, now that 0bamacare is now in effect.

You would think so. Aren't all the health records connected now and they should already know that information? Although, we moved from MA (where all health records seem connected via computer) to NH (where they seem a little behind with that (not complaining!)

It's mandatory in many workplaces now. Maybe they are scoping out where to hit a mandatory next? My niece had to take it even though she was pregnant or lose her job at Henry Ford Hospital in MI. She does not do direct care and just does fun, nonessentials for the bigwigs who do nothing but rake in the money. Fire the top heavy and hire more hands on and lighten the load and receive better care.

Your poor niece! It's crazy that she would have lost her job if she didn't get the shot. I wonder how many of those bigwigs actually got the shot themselves.. probably not many.

When I took my mom for her physical the other day her doctor kept harping on it. My mom doesn't trust vaccines at all and she is 80. I was so happy that she wouldn't give in. I should tell her about this site, lol.

My employer, a hospital in another state, is mandating flu vaccinations next year. I don't understand why so many get upset when they say they are being damaged by those not taking the vaccination. Just like with the animals. If they are so sure they are right and the vaccination is good, why? are they afraid of those not taking the vaccinations to protect their immune systems. I work face to face with folks, never had the flu since 2004, I am due to keep my system working well. Everytime I have gotten one, I am sick for a week. Not as bad as the flu, but ill with a temp and flu like for 5 days.
I did take it this year, (I thought it was mandated and did not want to fight with the written refusal) Once again, sick and flu like. Lasted a week and I have a residual cough, Have not had a cough in several years. It messed my immune system up once again. Employer tried to tell me I was getting one without preserve. LOL, "the special one" the one that had me sicker than any I had taken in 15 years( abt 3)
