Prison Population in USA
There is a guy on TV now saying that we send to prison more people than does china.

First of all that's false, China not only has the world's largest prison population, it also executes more than the rest of the world's death penalty countries combined, even by China's bulls)h!t official figures that they want you to believe, which is far less than reality.

And Secondly, people in the USA continue to commit the crime.

The USA's people continue to Shoot people, Stab people, Kill children, Rape people, Burglarize people's homes, and Steal from people and Rob people.

The USA's people continue to sell drugs, use drugs, Continue to defraud people, threaten people, assault people.

So guess what ?

You continue to do the crime, so why should I give a shit about you continuing to go back to prison ?

Just admit it , there is something wrong in the USA.

Admitting means recognising the problem.

Now find the causes and change them.

Comparing your country to another wrong country does not improve anything.

At what point in history did man begin to imprison man? This is very unusual behavior. Who taught men to imprison one another?

Re: Prison Population in USA
The US has the largest per capita prison population. Obviously, China has a far bigger populous.

Read about the "for profit" prison system in the US:

[link to www.salon.com]

Imagine living in a country where prisons are private corporations that profit from keeping their beds stocked at, or near, capacity and the governing officials scramble to meet contractual “lockup quotas.” Imagine that taxpayers would have to pay for any empty beds should crime rates fall below that quota. Surprise! You already live there.

A new report from In the Public Interest (ITPI) revealed last week that private prison companies are striking deals with states that contain clauses guaranteeing high prison occupancy rates. The report, “Criminal: How Lockup Quotas and ‘Low-Crime Taxes’ Guarantee Profits for Private Prison Corporations,” documents the contracts exchanged between private prison companies and state and local governments that either guarantee prison occupancy rates (essentially creating inmate lockup quotas) or force taxpayers to pay for empty beds if the prison population decreases due to lower crime rates or other factors (essentially creating low-crime taxes).

I think the same job could be accomplished in 3 yrs. who originated prison terms and how are the length of terms decided? just some psycho that said give em' 20 yrs that'll teach em'?

Re: Prison Population in USA
The prison population will dwindle quickly when the economic collapse occurs. The last figure I heard was that it costs about 40k per year to house each inmate. When the money dries up, you can fully expect the inmates to be released onto the streets, just as California is doing now. It is a similar situation to mental health facilities where the only people that are housed in these places are the ones with insurance or under criminal confinement. It would appear that no one is mentally ill if someone isn't footing the bill.

The next thing you will see, along with the newly released prisoners going crazy in the streets, more so than now, is the state sponsored killing of people of faith. Add to this group the intellectuals, sexual deviants, actors and entertainers. Those of faith are outnumbered and surrounded on all sides by the darkness that will be allowed to overcome them for a while. This is to allow the darkness to be at its darkest point, just before the dawn breaks and wipes it away. The other folks mentioned are being used by the dark overlords to destabilize society so that the darkness can reign. They will be wiped out as their continued presence will no longer be necessary and because they might also destabilize the planned new order. Chaos will be instituted to overthrow the old order of things and then a military will normalize the situation.

It is all rather like setting up the stage for a play. All of the conditions need to be created for the denizens of hell to be able to freely roam the streets and harvest those souls that are the tares, destined for the fire. Already we see glimpses of what is to come with face eating zombies, demonic possessions in main stream news, ever increasing lawlessness, ever increasing brutality, the disappearance of common sense, etc. every new day is a building upon what came the day before and evil grows exponentially and at an ever increasing rate. At some point, we will reach a criticality and what now seems surreal will explode onto the scene suddenly and with great intensity, though for the moment it might seem impossible. Look at how fast all of these countries are imploding globally. One day you go to work, just like every other day before and the next day there are riots in the streets, buildings blowing up killing thousands, heretofore unimaginable natural disasters wiping out hundreds of thousands in a day or less. If you think it can't happen in the US or to you, I would bet that there are some folks in Ukraine, Syria, Lybia, Egypt, Sudan, CAR, or many other places who were once of the same opinion.

The US has about 1.5 million people incarcerated. That is more than any other country on earth.

The US crime rate is the lowest it's been in decades and decades.

A great many, the majority?, of people incarcerated are there for crimes against the state. ie. there are no actual victims. They are there because someone doesn't like their lifestyle of smoking dope or whatever.

People in jail, like those employed by the government in any capacity, should get a real job and become functioning, productive members of the US economy.

The US has lead the world in this catalog for years now.

I remember reading that the US over took both China and the Russia for having the largest number of prisoners in the world... and that was when Clinton was in the White House.

It comes down to one thing; violence. Actual brick and mortar prisons should only contain the most fucked, twisted and violent people. The ones that're beyond "repair" and should be completely removed from society, or they often create many victims. Otherwise it's about time for a new way of dealing with non-violent offenders.

These stupid fucks for "leaders" we have in Canada passed mandatory minimum sentencing for something as trivial as growing more than 5 fucking plants. Plants that nature commands to grow... now that's about as fucked as it gets. Backward thinking and seriously detrimental to society. It's time it ended and for common sense to prevail.

Okay I've worked in the prison system for a few years and in my state the people who go there treat is as a family reunion or a catch up with old friends meeting place.

The problem that you guys are looking for is that we are to fucking soft on prisoners they should all be on chain gangs rebuilding the infrastructure that our country has crumbling around us. Roads, Bridges, farms, and buildings all need workers and I say instead of spending $40,000 a prisoner to house them they should be working it off not spending it a heated/cooled room watching fucking BET or the NBA on TV. Why would you care if you came back to that it's better than they have on the outside.

We spend $40,000 dollars a year on housing an inmate while $8,000 on on a child for education all because the bleeding heart Liberal's think that we have to treat inmates better than most people live, must be because they know some day their lying, cheating, crooked ways will some day catch up with them.

Hey, I agree.

I believe in balance. Applied to what I wrote above, the severity of the crime should dictate the severity of the retribution. You reap what you sow, in real-time. You work to pay back what you took from society, while you're encouraged to learn new ways of thinking and to educate yourself.

Violent criminals should be in a whole different system.

It's not a liberal/conservative issue, it's a common sense issue.

They are passing laws as fast as they can to incarcerate people for many, many things and everyone is going along with it thinking they are so good. No one sees the jest of it all.
