Unintelligent design? Or is god a fucking trickster? Twinning. All organs that have duplicates were originally one and due to DNA manipulation and cloning efforts, some merged and some were mirrors, twins. For example, the nose has two nostrils, but the nose physically on the face is melded together appearing as one nose face front wise. Same with the eyes. Also the brain. Where the two become one, most usually in the center, is as if you stood against a mirror with only 1/2 of your body showing to make a "full" image of yourself. Now for isolated organs. Some are original, some are residual, and some are successful implants. As for who did it, both Darwin and the God-did-it's are correct, IN A WAY. There was a "master" creator. And there was also FORCED evolution but also there was forced devolution (which keeps what is incorrectly deemed "junk DNA" off). |

Unintelligent design? Or is god a fucking trickster? I didn't know we were discussing this seriously... Was this a serious thread? Most (as in really, most) vertebrates are bilaterally symmetrical. It stems from the development of the spinal cord and central nervous system. Before the spinal cord developed with vertebrae, it would have been a notochord. Before that, other animals were bilaterally symmetrical, but a lot of sea life (think anything related to cnidarians like starfish, anemones, corals) is not bilaterally symmetrical, but something like pentagonally or some other number arranged around a central axis (radial symmetry). In essence, because we are vertebrates we are bilaterally symmetrical with imperfections. |
