You inherit 20k (GBP), you want to set yourself up for the rest of your life, what do you do with it?

20k is not even a year's salary.

I wouldn't change anythibng to my lifestyle with that money, just keep aside in case you need it, when you get sick or get married or something like this.

Look to invest it in something on a 3-year term which gives you around 3% yield. Anything else is specualtion.

If you want to speculate, I wouldn't know what to advise you in this economic climate, yileds should go up but it doesn't, inflation should go up, but it doesn't ... you can put 5k in some tech fund, it's speculative of course ...

Or you can look to fund some projects on kickstarter.

If you want to start a business, talk to a bank, get investors, get a business loan, don't risk your inheritance money. You will be more and better advised if you go the normal way.

Buy some little cute cottage in the country side, write children's stories, drink tea, smoke a pipe by the fire on a rocking chair.

I think I just decided what I want to do with my life.

twnety grand wpont even buy you a holiday chalet where you can only use it for 8 months a year and have to pay 3-5 grand a year park maintenance fees.

Buy somewhere that needs a LOT of work at one of those cheap property auctions - Pick it up for peanuts, tidy it up, then sell at a profit.
Repeat until rich.

Or, rent it out and pump the profits into more rental properties.

After a lot of research I'm leaning towards this as its a bit more up my street, but not with all of it - say up to 5-7.5k investment possibly, buy - grow - resell etc but a lot more research is needed not just into the methods but to also avoid scammers. Any other advice/personal experience you can share on this would be appreciated.

The land idea is ok but expensive and land + house etc has and always will be a long term goal (for living in/on) but I will need to grow my money almost ten fold for this.

Property is expensive and I've toyed with the idea of buy to let etc but the return vs effort/risks puts me on the fence.
