Nat's Conspiracy Guide
In this thread, I will rate some of the most popular conspiracy theories and similar "alternative" ideas on a scale of 1-4:

1 Star (*): Ridiculous.

No reliable evidence, illogical, biim_a_gay_spammere, paranoid, hoaxed, etc. Can be safely dismissed out of hand by reasonable individuals.

2 Stars (**): Far-fetched.

Little reliable evidence, problematic arguments, logical objections, etc. Probably false, but not entirely outrageous.

3 Stars (***): Plausible.

No conclusive proof, but significant evidential support (circumstantial or otherwise). Debatable, but not unreasonable.

4 Stars (****): Near-proven.

Several strong lines of near-conclusive evidence, firm logical support.

So here's the list, in alphabetical order:

Alien Abductions: * *

Alien Autopsy: *

Area 51 anomalies: * * *

Bible Codes: *

Chemtrails: * *

David Icke/Reptilians: *

Heh... I may be a "voice of reason" here on GLP, but in the circles I come from, I'm now considered a nut. I was involved with hardcore skeptics/debunkers for a long time. They would have given only one star to almost everything on this list.

Before I came here, I got banned by a group of people I've been involved with for years over a 9/11 dispute. I was questioning the official story, and a lot of them didn't like it. Fighting ensued, some ugly things were said and done on both sides, and I got kicked out. They also closed all the threads and said that any further 9/11 talk was forbidden.

Re: Nat's Conspiracy Guide
It is a sign of how conspiracy theories can warp the mind that such accusations are even made but then when one lives in a universe in which everyone hides a hidden agenda and every seemingly meaningless act conceals a greater purpose, such modes of thinking become inevitable.

The conspiracy theorist like the religious believer assumes that nothing happens by accident but where the religious believer sees that as G-d's hand in the world, the conspiracy theory is gnostic believing that everything happens for a reason...because evil forces are manipulating the world.

Hard core believers in conspiracy theories create a gnostic world, one in which good contends with a nearly omnipotent evil conspiracy that turns the entire world into a web of lies and deceit and whose followers and leaders are capable of making the most convulted plots succeed and directing the everyday life of the world without anyone but them knowing it. The 'secret knowledge' of the conspiracy theorist is his gnosis enabling him to find the truth in a world ruled by lies.

That very belief though ensures that such a person achieves nothing usefull as they labor over what isn't instead of dealing with what is. The world is not run by great conspiracies. A handfull of men don't sit in a secret room deciding the fate of the world. The truth is much worse than that. The state of the world is our fault. There are evil men but their efforts would come to nothing if we would stand up to them. Their plans tend to be laughable and pathetic. They succeed because good people do nothing. This blog is an attempt, however pathetic, to do something.

I am not Steven Plaut. I am however the Archduke of Wisconsin. Really.

Yep. Because I didn't give your preferred ideas as many stars as you wanted, I must be a "disinfo agent."

Really, that silly accusation is made way too often at GLP. It's embarrassing for you guys and the board.

But at least you didn't claim I'm being "paid," lol.

whats the matter Nat?

Don't like what you're seeing from on up?

Hmmm maybe people accuse others of being disinfo agents because there are a shitload of them in the movemnet and always have been...seems fairly reasonable to be paranoid in this sphere, unless of course you're an armchair actiivist.

FEMA camps are real buddy, basic research will show that Halliburton just got a huge contract last fall to build a number of 'detainee camps' further advertised by Bush on the 15th of may in his illegal immigrant speech.

You know fuck all, but pretend to know it all and subtly stand above us all, whatever you are, its bullshit. Do some homework.

Okie-dokie. I see you're a "true believer" faithful. No use arguing with such types.

BTW, I understand that FEMA camps are real. My rating does not judge their reality, only the idea that they will be used as civilian concentration camps. The existence of FEMA camps is quite plausible - but the idea that they will be used for mass internment of US citizens is far-fetched.

My faith is in history, and there is nothing I can't stand more than wankers infecting this movement with idle bullshit, sorry if its rude, its not personal.

Didn't compulsory education teach you about the Japanese Interment camps or the holocaust...is it farfetched that I run contracts out of building shaped like a swastika on coronado base, san diego?
google map it, its been everywhere on the net for a couple years now...we are run by nazis, reality is weirder than you give credit for.

HAARP should have got a better rating in my opinion. The facility is there, eating tons of tax dollars. After all the money spent on research, where are the results. Come on, one more star at least!

I agree, the facility is definitely there. I gave it only 2 stars simply because I find it more reasonable to believe that its function is to perform weird research and waste money than to do anything sinister.

NEWSPAPER ARTICLES PROVING WEATHER CONTROL

NEWS BRIEF: "United States and Other World Powers Should Outlaw Tampering With Weather for Use as War Weapon", Editorial by Senator Claiborne Pell, D-Rhode Island, The Providence Journal Bulletin, 1975.

"The U.S. and other world powers should sign a treaty to outlaw the tampering with weather as an instrument of war. It may seem farfetched to think of using weather as a weapon -- but I'm convinced that the U.S. did, in fact, use rainmaking techniques as a weapon of war in Southeast Asia."

Let us stop right here and now and digest just what Senator Claiborne Pell has told us. He said that the United States used Weather as a Weapon during the Vietnam War. We fought the Vietnam War from 1965-74 in a large capacity. Using Weather Weapons in the early 1970's would fit the time frame with which we are familiar.

The U.N. treaty we discussed above was passed one year after this article appeared quoting Senator Pell. Now, let us hear some more from Senator Pell.

"We need a treaty now to prevent such actions -- before the military leaders of the world start directing storms, manipulating climates, and inducing earthquakes against their enemies. The basic idea of environmental warfare is simple -- if a nation can learn to trigger natural events it can inflict terrible damage on an enemy through rainfall, flooding, tidal waves, earthquakes, and even climate changes that could devastate an enemy nation's agriculture." [Ibid.]

In one single paragraph, Senator Pell has confirmed our contention, above, that weather control is a reality and that it can be used as a weapon against an enemy. At this point, we need to clarify a very necessary ingredient required for a capability to be transformed into an effective weapon -- the capability needs to be exactly controlled so it will strike the target precisely. Otherwise, the capability is worthless; therefore, weather weaponry must be able to be precisely controlled! Keep that point in mind for the time you read Part 3.
