I'd say it's a safe bet to say that most everyone thinks they're a good person.

Even if they're an evil fuck, most people somehow justify what they're doing is for some good.

So the elite, I'm sure, have some fucked up justification to explain why what they're doing is actually good, and expect (if they believe in an afterlife) that they will be rewarded after they croak.
