-BREAKING- #AnneArundelCo Fire requesting MSP trooper, for medivac, #TiptonAirport plane crash. One person trapped, one extricated.

Tipton Airport (IATA: FME, ICAO: KFME, FAA LID: FME) is a public airport located just south of Fort George G. Meade in Odenton, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The facility is bordered by Fort Meade, the National Security Agency, and the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center. This airport opened in 1999 on the site of a former United States Army Airfield that was closed in 1995. It is operated by the Tipton Airport Authority

What type of plane?

Don't know looking for more info, there is a big fire going on too in the area

Airport is shut down til Medivac clears the area

Medivac just flew out with patient, will return for another patient.

I'm a pilot and I love to fly but if one thing is in the back of my mind it's a mid-air! I almost had one a few years ago flying a glider and someone in a Cherokee 140 came within inches of plowing into me! When I first saw him I looked right into his face and I remember his big green cup David Clark headset. I followed him down and we spoke
on the ground and he never saw me!

Medic is there with a trooper too, police helicopter involved? Don't know yet

Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue said during a press conference that the two victims are a 55-year-old and 80-year-old man. There is no other information on the victims as of now.

Rescue crews responded to the plane crash around 2 p.m. to Bald Eagle Drive and Combat in Ft. Meade, officials said. The single-engine plane was on its top in a wooded area. that was found upside down in a wooded area, according to officials.

Investigation shows that the plane had just taken off from Tipton Airport, located in the 7500 block of General Aviation Drive in Ft. Meade, officials said. The crash happened only a few hundred yards from the airstrip.

Due to the on-going rescue operations and investigation, officials say Tipton Airport is closed.
