Environmental Topics are a State Secret in China and there are not much People who report about it. "The health cost [of the study] is only based on the premature death figures due to the limitations of our research data," said Li. "It could be way higher if we also include medical costs for other chronic illnesses." The study found that in 2012, more than 70 per cent of the population was exposed to annual PM2.5 pollution levels higher than 35 micrograms per cubic metre, the country's benchmark for healthy air quality. The World Health Organisation sets its PM2.5 safety limit at an annual concentration of 10mcg/cubic metre. That class of particulate was officially recognised as a human carcinogen last year by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, especially its link to lung cancer and a heightened risk of bladder cancer. In 2012, some 157 million people in China lived in areas where the annual PM2.5 concentration was higher than 100mcg/cubic metre - 10 times the WHO's recommendation. A previous study published in British medical journal The Lancet said outdoor air pollution contributed to 1.2 million premature deaths in China in 2010, or 40 per cent of the global total. Former health minister Chen Zhu said this year that pollution caused 350,000 to 500,000 premature deaths a year in China. The new study - based on research from Tsinghua and Peking universities, the China Academy of Environmental Planning and other government-backed institutes - represents the latest lobbying efforts by some Chinese experts to cap coal consumption. This is depending on the Location, but compared to Shanghai, Hong Kong or Beijing the Prices are relative low, ca. 250.000$ for a 2LDK in a new Appartment (low Cost) The Difference is that Houses in Japan get rebuild after ca. 25 Years in Average! |

They’re something we don’t have at home,’’ said Xu Jun, an agent for a steel trading company from Guangzhou, a huge manufacturing city in southern China that is blighted by pollution, during a recent visit to the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. [link to www.bostonglobe.com] The environmental Situation in China is really bad, the burning of Coal kills Millions but our Wart-Trolls and Eneturds don't care! Maybe they get paid by the Fossil Fuel Industry and do not realize the Impact of this Disaster! China burns so much coal, if it's making the air unbreathable in China it's got to be affecting the whole world's air quality. They should be using the same technology US coal plants use, they are stupid they don't have to invent it just buy it from the US it's not that commplicated. |

How could the majority of emissions be gone when Fukushima is still spewing out toxic radiation contaminants??? Maybe if they eventually stop the leakage and scrape away about 3 feet of the topsoil from Japan, then the land might be habitable. The ocean is a different story. Just because you can't see the radioactive contaminants doesn't mean its not there. Japan's fishing industry is dessimated. They have to go to other waters to fish... |

This may help China to save a bit of Energy FYI: every single Coal Power Plant and Mine release Radioactivity too, the Level of Radioactivity around a Fossil Plant is higher than from a Nuclear Power Station but only under normal Circumstances Japan had a very low natural Background Radiation compared to Europe, Crackerland and Asia, even now (Post-3/11) it is much lower than New York, Paris, Mumbai, Shanghai or Absurdistan. |

Fukushima Daiichi is not "spewing" Radiation all around, there is a very limited Area (close to the Reactors itself) where we see very high Radiation but this is made by the Stuff, when there are no Explosions, Winds or Rain nothing reach the "Outside". Japan Food & Fish Industry is booming, only ca. 200 Km of our Costal Line is restricted but we have Thousands of it. The Ocean around of Japan is fine and Radiation is not detecable anymore because we have strong Currents here, only the Zone of ca. 5 Km in front of Daiichi still show detecable Levels! |
