Quoting: BunBun I wish I could take you to 1976 and show you how it is different now. I think God is doing it. I was born in the 90s, However I have noticed a very marked shift in the rate of time very recently. Well, in the 70's, the days were slow and lazy. It just wasn't like it is now. See, in the 70's, people had smaller homes and this upwardly mobile stuff wasn't part of the culture. But, in the 80's, people started running after money. And when I say people, I mean Baby Boomers. They were going gung ho for a better life at any cost. They really sold us down the corporate road. They became so busy that they never had time to enjoy all the nice things they could afford. It has just sped up and sped up and sped up since then. You have to keep in mind that in the 70's there were millionaires, but there were no billionaires. That didn't exist them. The 5 years between 15 and 20 roll lazily along. The 5 years between 45 and 50 fly by like a fucking express train. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42772973 You old people are acting like there's actually a scientific reason for why time gets faster as you get older lmao... Clearly your perception of time is 100% UP TO YOU. With proper meditation you can slow your perception to the point where a minute can feel like an hour, and it doesn't matter what age you are... Of course there are also other factors, such as the condition of the planet and other forces. |

There's really no objective measurement for one person's "it feels like time has sped up" compared with someone else's. Plus, not to get overly abstract, each of us is sort of a particle in motion, all at varying speeds & trajectories, and thus experiencing things differently. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 69115045 United States 07/08/2015 08:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When you are exactly 1 year old, 1 year is the total amount of time you have ever known. It's massive. When you are four, a year is now 1/4 of what you know. When you are 10 it's 1/10. When you are 50 it's 1/50. See how the fraction gets smaller? Time will consistently appear to speed up the older you get because one year will be a smaller and smaller amount compared to your overall life. A year will only be 1/50th of your life when you are 50. Its going to go by much quicker than when it was 1/10th of your life. |

Of course there are also other factors, such as the condition of the planet and other forces. There are scientific reasons how we perceive time AND that is not how this thread was started. Look like it has been proven that times is not REALLY going faster as you stated in the op. When i was a child i noticed that when i took a two hour trip in a car the ride to the destination always seemed much longer then the trip home…why? well because i was anticipating getting to the new destination and then going home was just going home. Could also have something to do with already taking the trip one time so going back was still in my mind and the thrill was gone. I am surprised though because i have seen so many of these threads and just something i took for granted. Age does have something to do with it too and the environment we grow up in. For example, in the 70s and 80s there was no internet so kids had to entertain themselves. Not a fan of meditating since it is absolutely NO different than shutting off all the crap, quit the multitasking apps, multiple tabs open etc. and THINK…THINK…THINK. Although that said, we had better movies, music and t.v shows to watch where the writers were actually intelligent. |

Look it up, there are plenty of studies. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67674133 No its not(even though the phenomena exists), it c(the speed of light decaying), look it up on the internet, look up Barry setterfield, very interesting, c has been measured accurately for 300 years now, and that means it can be demonstrated as real. What does it mean, well it radically affects e=mc2 |
