Rockets Work In Space, Or do They?
The sun clearly burns in space, and produces energy, so it's clear we can produce energy in space to propel a craft, now the real question is, do we have the technology to stabilize a craft from doing cartwheels in space, or do we not.

Yes I am in regards to this subject.

How do you propose we keep a craft going in one direction in space with out some sort of stabilization?

Space works just like water, you throw a bottle rocket into the water and it goes straight for a moment, than it changes directions rather quickly because it doesn't have any stabilizing force.

Care to explain how they stabilize a rocket?

And if you can't answer, it's you that's stupid as well.

Re: Rockets Work In Space, Or do They?
Its called thrusters. They supply their own oxygen and propellant on board z craft... Derp, im guessing but im pretty sure that is correct. Space is an oxygenless vacuum so they would need their own supply or maybe use an oxygenless process.

And here is a quote from google on rocket fuel. ". Liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen are used as the propellant in the high efficiency main engines of the Space Shuttle." So herp.

The thrusters move to stabilize the craft.

Re: Rockets Work In Space, Or do They?
Not a rocket scientist, but a rocket in water will shift directions due to ebbs and flows in the water due to the pushing force of the rocket on its medium which may not be even.
Any medium in fact...
Think of a bullet and how it must spin to create counteractive forces to nullify external forces from its medium.

Space is a vacuum the only forces that can affect a craft would be solar winds but those forces are negatable.

Also rocket fuel contains it's own oxygen source if that is your question

Re: Rockets Work In Space, Or do They?
Interesting, look I'm on a conspiracy forum I get it. I'm not saying rockets don't work in space.

I just want a laymens explanation because when I see movies they shoot out air or thrust part of the craft one way or another. Movies typically try to keep things to at least a point of realism. and I don't recall rockets having advanced thrusters to keep them stabilized in space is all.

Now our rockets that we shoot out into space that come back down go up and turn very slowly by reducing thrust to one side of the craft, but in space, wouldn't reducing thrust from one side just make the craft spin in circles?
