Yes. There are several all around your planet. I do not know the number since I am in one mining site and do not venture out much. We only get information when it is of importance.
Sites are built primarily between what you call the "Tropic of Cancer" and "Tropic of Capricorn". However, there are mining sites and experimental sites outside those areas.
The bases need to be located at points of your "solstices" to track our home stars so they so not "disappear" below horizons of the North and South hemispheres.

I am assuming then that methane is a byproduct of the mining and the area located, is apt?
