Daily Prayer Thread !!!Plus The Word

My niece is a Pediatrician in Houston. She did not evacuate but is now at a local hospital there treating children who were hospitalized before and during the hurricane and those that came in injured. Her husband and three children did evacuate to her husband's parents house but are planning on returning as soon as possible.

Her major concern is those injured that have not been discovered nor rescued yet, and the possibility that Harvey will reform and put other little lives at risk.

She and some of the doctors there will essentially be living at the hospital until such time the storm is completely over and other doctors come in to relieve them. Many of the nursing staff are doing the same. Please say a prayer for them and their patients.

Dear Heavenly Father , we call on Job 37 and Luke 8, we ask forgiveness for making You anything other than Who You are, we ask forgiveness for mocking Your Holy name, we do not understand Your ways as in Job 37 verse 5, we stand corrected as in verse 13 , we humbly ask Harvey lose all energy today, we are a sinful people but You are a God of Mercy , we call on that Mercy , help us not go back as business as usual an be and do as You want , let many come to know You , hear Your voice of thunder , let our hearts be in emergency mode for You, help people see You in these floods as in Job 37 , 38 and Luke 8 , help us not be as the people in the days of Noah in Jesus Holy Name amen

Rockport is my home town and it is relatively small at around 10,000 residents. I have a lot of family there. It's a tourist town tho and it's still summer so there were many visitors in town. I moved inland, so I wasn't in the thick of it, although, I seriously debated leaving if it turned slightly south. I decided to stay since the major part of the storm was going north of my home and I have animals to tend to.

I had to go in yesterday to check on my sisters, brother and parents homes, since they are all out of town. Luckily for them at least three of their homes received minor damage that can be repaired. The forth I couldn't get to because of the water and debris. The rest of the town...so many tears as I tried to drive around the debris, water, telephone poles and power lines everywhere. We've had storm damage before, but nothing like what I saw yesterday.

This town has always been resilient and come back from storms, but this storm caused so much damage, it's doing to take a very long time for the town to recover. What I saw yesterday broke my heart. Didn't matter what the structures were made out of, they were shredded like they were made from tin foil.

My family still has their homes, for the most part. I'm going back in as soon as I can to see if my sisters house is there. I have a feeling it is gone or badly damaged, because it was in the area where not even the camera crews would go on the waterfront.

The rest of the town though has suffered greater loses. I don't often ask for prayers, but I'm asking now for all of those people who lost everything. They need all the help they can get and I'm sure they'll be insurance and probably some assistance from the disaster relief fund. But they'll need your prayers to help recover their spirits and to get past the grief of losing everything.

As I watch the rescues over and over I can see God doing amazing things. He called us to be what we seeing happen. All boundaries gone, people not caring about anything but helping each other and acts of kindness in epic proportions. We can see Him set priorities. The words epic, disaster , catastrophic , unprecedented are beings used. In this life we can see all this as bad or we can find and see God in it. He is showing us nothing in this world matters except rescues...
