It is near certain that the authors of America’s “Declaration of Independence” and Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address” — texts of agonizing beauty in the face of today’s harsh realities –could not have anticipated a world in which spy cameras are hidden in cactuses, the Government surreptitiously parses our verbal communications and the concept of privacy is fast approaching extinction. They could not have anticipated a world in which information is the prime commodity of exchange, at the expense of Grace, Compassion, Solitude and the remaining fragile components of the besieged human heart. What they did anticipate is that Governments, no matter how powerful, will always hunger for more power, and that Power inevitably corrupts.

Governments are composed of human beings, and all of the frailties that humans possess are absorbed into these Governments, and become active within these Governments. Hatred, anger, jealousy, fear, greed, distrust and the whole host of afflictions that humans must bear, lurk just beneath the surface of civility displayed by “Government”. When individuals become angry with one another, an injury of some sort will likely occur. When governments become angry, entire civilizations are wiped out. When individuals become greedy, they are no longer invited to dinner. When governments become greedy, starvation afflicts the weaker nations. When people become fearful, other people avoid them. When governments become fearful, the populace is included among those elements that the government fears, and the populace has nowhere to go. These truths are self-evident to anyone who cares to look with the right kind of eyes.

More than 200 years ago, a document called the “Declaration of Independence” was penned, by some of the greatest minds in the history of civilization:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident;
– That people are endowed with certain unalienable Rights,
– That among these Rights are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
– That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among People, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
– That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it.”

A scant 4 score and 7 years after these words were written, a gaunt President Lincoln stepped onto one of the bloodiest battlefields in human history to admonish his current, and all future generations, to bear the responsibility of we, the Governed:
“We must now dedicate ourselves to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

I live in a country that has passed so many laws that, at an average reading speed, would take me 600 years to read, reading 24 hours a day. I am protected by a government that invades my privacy so that it can assure me that I am not the enemy it is protecting me from. I live in a country that is governed by people largely illiterate in cyber security (as proven by the multiple government computer hacks) - yet cyber warfare is now the means if war. My government is dysfunctional. For the 300 million other Americans - you are in the same boat with me.

It's important to stress that the FBI *is not* asking Apple to decrypt the phone or give them a password. What they are asking Apple to do is provide a custom iOS that removes the accumulating timer when you submit incorrect pass codes. The FBI is going to brute force the password with or without Apple's help, and a 4 digit pass code is hardly a problem. It's the time delay that kills it.

Apple is not being ordered to give access, they are being ordered to make the FBI's job easier. And that I question the legality of.

This is idiotic. They dont need to break the encryption. Apple just needs to push an update to the phone that tells it to forward its sms, contacts and web history to a third party. Apple could easily do this without compromising any other phone. They dont want to because they will get sued by millions of iphone owners who bought them based on the claim that they are impossible to access wothout the passcode, even by apple itself. Any device with a live update system is trivially accessible by the entity that controls the update servers.

You're kind of dumb aren't you? Even if they created the update you're talking about that would mean that update could be used to unlock every other iPhone. But this is not even about updates or breaking encryption, this is all about precedents. If Apple helps them they will set a precedent and then they will have to do it every time big brother asks. Helping the FBI is suicide for these Tech corporations. Most foreign powers are moving away from U.S tech companies and software because they know they will be spied upon. If this continues most U.S tech corporations will be broke in a decade.

The first photo that I saw of Donald Trump at work alerted me to a potential issue. There was not a single laptop, pad or other smart device anywhere on his desk. Given the fact that my own office, and the offices of everyone that I know are virtually littered with active screens, I found this to be odd in the extreme.

While pondering this, I remembered that Trump, in 2013, almost proudly stated that he rarely writes emails.

My initial impression on hearing this proclamation was that Trump was in the vanguard of those “super technologists” who are slowly abandoning emails as too slow and cumbersome and whose text messages and tweets are masterful creations of compacted characters.

But I fear I was wrong.

Our military, industrial, social and cultural worlds would not exist today were it not for the billions of computing devices that monitor and control everything from food production and distribution to our buying of socks, shoes and televisions. The electricity that powers our homes is produced and distributed entirely under automated control. Our emergency services could not function without these computing devices, neither our police forces or even our automobiles. We are fully submersed in the digital age.

In addition, most cyber security experts agree that there is an imminent cyber war on the horizon.

Given this reality, technological illiteracy should be viewed in the same light as an inability to read and write in the world of 50 years ago.

I am running for the Libertarian Party’s nomination for president in 2016. If I were to tell you that I could neither read nor write, but that I would hire advisors who would explain words to me, would you vote for me?

I thought not.

How then can we rationally consider electing someone who is not fully conversant in the technology that holds our world together?

This is actually a really smart move because legally emails can be proof as evidence in a court of law, but they are easily editable, and sometimes is like talking, you say things, and then cannot take it back. I love technology, but personally always thought that doing business through emails is not very smart.

Trump cover his butt in every way possible. He knows what he is doing. He probably writes a letter old school, lets his assistant transcript it, then reads on it, ponders, before he sends.

I always liked McAfee, but I admits the Belize story is very, very fishy. Is my understanding that it has to do with computer in the Belize government, and all sorts of things. He would not even pass a criminal background check and he is running for president? Wow only in the US of A. I guess obomber put a strong precedent on that.

In the future, when you’re considering the purchase of a new computer or a new phone or some other bit of digital gadgetry - you should also remember that Apple was the ONE AND ONLY MAJOR COMPUTER MANUFACTURER that didn’t roll over at the government’s request and immediately build back doors into their operating system or their hardware.

A firm that has the courage to fly in the face of the Government based on their own values and their feelings of the public having a right to privacy is a company I will continue to give my business and my Data-Phone-IT Dollars to as far as I possibly can!

I wouldn’t buy a Micro$oft product if they were giving them away because M$oft rolled over and gave the government what they wanted and never mentioned doing so to the millions who paid good money for their shitty OS systems and/or related software and server ware.

in other words, you agree apple should give them a custom iOS that can and would later be modified by the authorities to break into any iphone...

if you knew how computers work, how security features of the iphone work, you would know that theres a lot of encryption in that little 4 digit passcode lock screen.

before ios 7 one could easily bypass the lockscreen or even extract EVERYTHING without unlocking the phone, thats just not possible anymore.

so unless apple create s masterkey for the iphone, the fbi have 10 attemps before the phone is locked forever haha

During the early bush area they recorded every single phone call in and out of USA. What does that tell you regarding the IT infrastructure of the cabal. SSD harddisk have been around in military high-end equipment for even longer.

encryption is only allowed in all electronic devices up to 256 bit. That for a good reason. It allows them to crack any password in short time...
