To lower it in an emergency situation here are two lesser known but equally effective remedies:

1: A whole, lemon and 8 ounces of mineral water. Halve a lemon and squeeze the entire contents of both halves into a glass (8 ounces) of mineral water. If within about 30 minutes, repeat. It will subside exponentially.

2: Fill a 5 gallon bucket / pail with very warm water (from 100-120 degrees) and soak your feet and calves in the bucket for about 30 minutes. If not, repeat and do it again.
