Out of dire desperate need you can do it. I bought many fine things at Wal-Mart. Because i really needed them and it was the closest store and i dont have a car and i dont have much money. So i have to take it to its most practical and highest level. I have to see a spiritual purpose in the item. Wal-mart is smart. What they do is plant their giant stores in poor and lower middle class parts of town. Where people dont have much money and in some cases not even transportation. That is smart business. They made their fortune literally on poor peoples money. And you know what ? That really isnt such a bad thing. One store where you can get everything you need. That is important to someone with no transportation and little money. It works well. |

NCCCPC (OP) User ID: 158082 United States 12/23/2006 07:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "After looking at 25 small towns in different states where Wal-Mart opened stores in 2002, economists Richard Vedder of Ohio University and researcher Bryan O'Keefe of the American Enterprise Institute concluded that employment growth was stronger in Wal-Mart communities than in others. In a separate study, economist Emek Basker of the University of Missouri found that, on average, a new Wal-Mart kills 50 local retailing jobs, but creates 100 others — a net gain of 50. And, contrary to Democrats' claims, local wages don't decline. Labor Department data show that labor productivity for "big-box" discount stores like Wal-Mart rose at a sizzling 7.6% pace from 1987 to 2004. And according to the McKinsey Global Institute, productivity gains at Wal-Mart alone accounted for an amazing 13% of all productivity gains in the U.S. from 1995 to 1999 — smack in the middle of the so-called Internet boom. A study by economic consultant Global Insight found that, from 1985 to 2004, Wal-Mart slashed food-at-home prices by 9.1%, goods prices by 4.2% and overall consumer prices by 3.1%. If those cuts don't sound huge, consider that, all told, they saved mostly poor and middle-class consumers $263 billion — or $895 per person and $2,329 per household." It was simply survival of the best business. Pure capitalism. And i bought a lot of stuff from Walmart that last a very long time. It all depends on the belief you have in an object to begin with. yes it is true. The more believe and want something to work well the more it will. This is true for people and things. Now of course there are exceptions. Some people just have this touch where everything falls apart no matter how much they want it †o live. But all in all most people have the power in them to make something live for a long time. IF they want it to. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2711Walmart, helping you prepare for when TSHTF. Gotta love that too...Their VA stores (specifically the one in Springfield) used to sell ammo as well as shotguns, and rifles. When I pointed this out to the Store Manager many a moon ago when I used to swing by to pick up snacks on the way to/from work, he noted they had a permit and offered to show me. I was in a rush, so I passed. I happened to swing by the County Offices one day out in Fairfax and asked to view their permit to sell firearms. I then asked to view their permit to sell alcohol. I then asked why they were issued both when infact the VA state law is very clear. You can't obtain to sell one, if you also sell the other. Guns were removed, yet the ammo was allowed to continue to be sold. Manager who's name I had identified as the party who noted they were permitted to sell both was terminated, but not before his store was hit with several store violations for knowingly applying for both permits, as well as failing to provide access to disabled parties by having pallets in aisles thus failing the 42in mandate by the State for Disabled Americans. Why this store is allowed to continue being considered by local towns across America is amazing. Some towns are wising up to the bait and switch tactics, others are seeing the light less than a year after grand openings as promises made by the corp. are broken, lies told to the community are realized, and yet they continue to take funds away from schools, and the community due to tax incentives they agreed to, yet fail to uphold their end of the bargin. Cheers! |

My dad bought a nearly identical one from Wal-Mart...his wore out in under a year, so he bought another one...he doesnt use it for more than an average homeowner might around the house...it's now dead. I hang more ruggedly, drop it, have thrown it across a server room, used it to rack mount servers, and it's still ticking.
