not meaning personal judgments, but controlling judgments.

aren't all judges mentally ill for thinking they are superior to those they judge? aren't they all going to hell for all the evil they have done in life? there's not a single judge that hasn't been bribed one way or another, or taken the law into his own hands for his own enrichment or that of "associates". they all belong in prison themselves - but they are allowed to do as they like under the doctrine of absolute/qualified immunity.

Good people who suffer from PTSD have a heightened sense of fairness and it is repugnant to challenge their thinking skills simply because they have been traumatized and suffer from what is classified to be a mental illness.

The judge needs to have his head examined.

all judges begin their career as failed attorneys.

And they end them as failed judges.

I have PTSD, I have to say that I m sometimes mentally incapacitated in high stress situation.

Then again it is my personal responsibilty to avoid getting into those situations.

Also have to admit that I am afraid that if I get in a physical fight the chances are high i will beat the opponent to death in blind rage, which is why I walk away when I get agitated.

I hate how people have the image that PTSD sufferers are out of touch with reality, they are not, they are out of touch with the person they were before the trauma and unable to see life as something valuable and meaningful and unable to see their own actions and person in a positive light.

They are emotionally disconnected because this is the only way to deal with sensory overlod. Its not schizophrenia or hallucinations like some think..

I think they should since all mental disorders are defective thinking.

In good ol usa ptsd is considered a mental illness..there are different levels of illness.

Mental illness does not necessarily affect cognitive skills.

It is technically mental illness, but people cope with it very differently.

You can be in absolute despair and still able to understand.

I watched the beginning and it has three judges listed. In Ontario, 3 judges hear an appeal. One leads and the other 2 rubber-stamp.

You are spot on, it's just an automatic assumption that people with a mental illness are idiots. While in reality mental illness is disproportionately prevalent with people with higher intelligence, but that is not the point, the point is mental illness does not de facto qualify a person as an idiot. Also look at how many idiots can do whatever they want, drive a car, get kids, etc and noone bothers to diagnose their stupidity.

Also the doctor that made the claim in this article should try a decade of nightmares and sleepdeprivation.. Afterwards he can evaluate if the word suffering still has the same weight to him. I bet he'd shotgun his own face after 3 weeks.

I think PTSD is being used for more than our military. I think that side of it is pure bullshit.

PTSD is a serious problem. It affects many people who survive a life threatening episode. Do not underestimate this illness, people who suffer need support.

Th judge probably get sexual pleasure off of watching people die.

If some do not get treatment they can lose it. I knew a guy who was in Vietnam, he almost killed his wife because of a gun or a car backfiring. He was in the field hoeing and he was trying to chop he up. He saw Vietcong, not her, he was in Vietnam in his mind. They did not have the treatment they have now.
