If you don't think a gang of 13-15 year old males can't kill someone with punches and kicks you would be in for a surprise.

In many states you would need to show that your life was in danger before shooting someone. Being assaulted by multiple people would be grounds for a justified shooting. I have a feeling that the warning shot will land him in more trouble than anything.

I think he knows exactly how dangerous a group teens can be, they are young, flexible, fast, reasonably strong.

Gangs of teenagers can do a lot of damage.
Especially low intelligence teenagers like these in the clip, they're not afraid of a single cop and tries to take their arrested gang member back (which in itself is a crime), had he been a weaker guy he would certainly been jumped, lose his gun, possibly lose his life or just get off with a beating, a gang beating that is.
