NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope revealed 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting a star 40 L-years away - 3 of them are in habitable zone!
ig discovery! NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting a tiny star only 40 light-years away. Three of them are firmly in the habitable zone.

At a news conference in Washington D.C. today (February 22, 2017), NASA announced that its Spitzer Space Telescope has observed the first known system of seven Earth-size planets around a single star. Three of these planets are firmly located in what’s called the habitable zone, the area around the parent star where a rocky planet is most likely to have liquid water – key to life as we know it. The discovery sets a new record for greatest number of known planets in a star’s habitable zone. After all, our solar system has only two planets in the habitable zone: Earth and Mars. This exoplanet system – called TRAPPIST-1 – has three.

Because they are located outside of our solar system, these planets are scientifically known as exoplanets.

This is only 40 lightyears away, this means there could be tens of thousands of habitable planets in our universe!

And that means by definition thousands of different alien races!

I knew it the universe is full of Et's but for some reason they do not show themselves!

Strange isn't it why would an alien race be afraid of us?

Perhaps our planet is already covertly colonized by a very advanced and evil race of et's.

You're missing the point it proves that alien life is guaranteed to exist in the universe and that it's not so far away.

It also means that our planet has already been visted or colonized. This discovery means a lot if you understand it's meaning.

Suppose that we find someday the technology to opene wormholes and travel into hyperspace!

How long would it take before humans made contact with other worlds?

See it matters because now we know we don't have to travel billions of light years to find other life forms!

Truth but 40 Lightyears means 40 years in the past. I doubt that something could have happened that can wipe out an entire solar system....

Unless they have their own rogue nibiru like planet lurking in their star system.

Na it's probably still there don't worry about that.

Infact I don't think we have to go that far to find other habitable exoplanets.

Stop looking for hope, inspiration, solutions and wisdom from space. We have plenty of problems piling up here on Earth and the only ways to solve and survive them will soon become very local.

Religious people seem reluctant to even entertain the notion of what this means. Some will say that the information can not be independently verified... But it is only a matter of time before technology improves to the point that average people will be able to observe exoplanets a mere 40 light years away.

Can anyone imagine the odds of thousands of earth-sized rocky planets, located within the habitable zone of their stars, being completely sterile of life? Oceans of pure water with not a single organism or organic matter of any kind? It is utterly ignorant and arrogant to assume that Earth is the only planet "special" enough to support life.

If you consider that space and time are infinite, then it is obvious that life has always existed and that the conditions that support life, although less prevalent than non-life supporting conditions, still exist in an infinite number of locations throughout space.

So much BS coming from NASA - nothing they say is believable since they can give nothing that proves their info.

Everything they claim is done without the ability to independently verify, with tools no one else has, or science that no one can prove.

Yes, and by the time it reaches orbit it's also traveling at 17k mph. The relative velocity at docking is very low, by design. In fact the station plucks it with its own robot arm when it gets close.

"it proves that alien life is guaranteed to exist...."

No, all it proves is the gullibility of man to believe anything including stuff given to them from the most religiously stamped organisation in this world passing itself of as science

Re: NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope revealed 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting a star 40 L-years away - 3 of them are in habitable zone!
LOL. Yes, we can use a telescope to see a dwarf solar system 40 light years away but can't resolve the lunar landing.

And look, Dr. Liar is here, panicking because most intelligent citizens can see this bullshit, and no longer believe in it.

What a desperate fool.

Oh, it's you again.
so they launch a cargo ship. It docks with a space vessel that is orbiting earth at 17k mph,
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9233880

Yes, and by the time it reaches orbit it's also traveling at 17k mph. The relative velocity at docking is very low, by design. In fact the station plucks it with its own robot arm when it gets close.

Yet these same guys can't land a lunar module in the confines of earth?
 Quoting: AC

What are you even talking about?
Oh, except for the spaceX liars that land rockets (just play the launch in reverse).
 Quoting: AC

Bullcrap. The launch and landing of the spaceX was witnessed by thousands of people around the Cape. It landed on a separate landing pad, separated from the launch pad.

No it wasn't witnessed by thousands of people. Show me the stands that they watched from. Show me the people around the landing pad.

Not people from a boat, on a lake miles away, they did not witness the landing.

Not a produced video either.

show me where 1000s of people sat, close enough to be safe, to see it land upright.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9233880

I saw it land upright myself last weekend. Here you go:

And the close up footage from the telescope:

Suck on it, suck on it long and hard dumbass. I'm not a liar.

Yeah, you're a liar. Hence, why you are so desperate. Only a schmuck would believe you. Good thing there are a plenty

This is all bullshit! They found shit!

It is all cover from THIS story:

NASA employees caught buying child porn from site which showed three-year-olds being abused - but they escape prosecution and now their names are being kept secret.

Staff were found to have purchased illegal images while at the agency

Were bought from Belarus and Ukraine using credit cards and PayPal

FBI uncovered the illicit transactions in 2010 as part of a government probe

They were identified by authorities, but their names have been redacted

NASA employees were caught buying child pornography from a criminal ring in Eastern Europe that distributed images of minors as young as three, it can be revealed.
