Some ACTUAL proof about this flat earth nonsense

Actually, no. I'm a pilot and I've never seen the curvature. But here's a simple yet powerful experiment anyone can do; especially, if you live on the coast and have land mass on the other side that you can see with binoculars or a telescope.

I'm retired in Mexico. From my beach house I can see the other side of Baja California. There is a mountain peak 1,200 ft in height. The distance between that mountain on the other side of the ocean is 82 miles.

Grab a calculator:

82 miles squared x 8 inches = 53,792 divided by 12 = 4,483.

4,483 minus 1,200 (mountain peak) = 3,283.

Science proves that the mountain peak should be hidden below 3,283 feet of curvature. It is impossible for me to see that from my vantage point if the earth is a ball.

I keep opening these threads from nitwits that claim to have "proof" the earth is flat, then they point to an article written by someone else or some picture taken by somebody 5,000 miles away and calling that "proof". I don't know if they are stupider for posting it or I am stupider for opening it, but anyway...

If you *really* think the earth is flat (or round for that matter), don't take anyone else's word for it, believe some math you can't understand, or trust a picture that could have been photoshoped. Just check for yourself.

You will need an iphone, a weather type hot air balloon, and some time. Just Google the parts if you can't figure it out from there.

Sent MY phone up into space with MY air balloon and saw the videos *I* created with my own eyes.

Spoiler alert - the earth is round.

But like I said, don't take my word for it. Go send up your own balloon and see for your damn self. Until you do that, stop posting your crap.

I am trying to debunk flat earthers but either our planet is much much bigger than it is or it's not round.

Go with the evidence and not with the brainwashing and cognitive dissonance. There is no reason to insult if all you're doing is scientifically finding the truth.

Yes, beach house = sea level.

People have done this up to 80 k ft and higher.

It's shown to still be flat that high up.

Actually, I don't think the owners would actually care but some of the sleuths here may be able to use the pics to connect me to the project and figure out who I am. On a professional level I really don't want to be associated with this site. No offense.

Please calculate the curvature of Earth with your 8" formula for a distance of 12,500 miles.

8 inches... but then the next drop is already starting out on a down curve... and by the time you get 1/4 way around the planet, your mile is a negative rise with no run and therefore it dont drop 8 inches per mile, but each successive mile has more drop.

I see: The floor of the house is just some millimeters above the water and you made the observation lying on the floor.
Even under this conditions it's still about one foot above sea level - not at sea level.

How do you get a drop of over 19,000 miles on a globe that has a diameter of just 7.917.5 miles?
It seems that the 8" formula isn't quite accurate.

You have to take into account the height of the mountain, not subtract it from the friggin total...

1,200 feet isn't really a mountain, 1,200 meters is on the lower end of a mountain peak.
