A Learjet 35A corporate jet crashed and burst into flames while on approach runway 01 to Teterboro Airport, New Jersey, USA, according to the FAA.

The airplane impacted the ground in an industrial area between Kero Road and Commerce Road in Carlstadt, New Jersey, 1000 m short of runway 01. A fire erupted and consumed the aircraft. Both crew members have died in the accident.

Teterboro is big executive jet airport but it can handle larger jets because that's where the Capt. Sully flight was originally vectored too. It's also where Justin Bieber got busted with weed. It's a typical commercial type district, my former agency has a facility next door. Port Authority of NY/NJ handle it.

For such a small airport with what seems no permanent Customs Officers, a quick search on some details turned up an inordinate amount of drugs stories.

Well...if you're running bad stuff to the NY metro area, where ya gonna land, La Guardia or a smaller place? ;)

They have a small CBP detachment. I guess for international fancy pants private jets. I think it's the most popular general aviation airport for the NY/NJ area. Hop skip jump to the city. My ex used to work next door at Dassault Falconjet
