Ok upstairs is the roof of my apartment, but ok dude.

No, they are mostly independent. Don't need the constant attention or praise that dogs need and it takes a little bit of effort on the humans part to get a cat comfortable around you. If you try to hard, you will fuck it up. An occasional pet or head rub will do and then it's best to go about your business and let them observe you. They will come to you when they are comfortable with you. They will avoid irritable, stressed, or highly active or agitated people. Kittens are a bit more accomadating. Cat's avoid cruel people. Cat's are more like Democrats when it comes to their needs. It's more like "what can I get out of you?". They are more conservative with their affection. They don't give it lightly.

Dogs are totally different creatures who want to be near you, want your affection and want to "work" or please you. Sort of like the Republicans when it comes to seeking positive media attention. They need "pack" members or want to be part of the group. They are more social animals. It's not hard to make a friend of a dog unless that animal has been abused and then it is more a fear or timidness that makes it difficult for them to bond. Dogs are more liberal with their affection.
