1. 11 hours driving is not enough time to make enough money,13 for canadian drivers : Complete bullshit unless your a tard pulling cheap freight and that issue is your own damn fault. Maybe your stupid asses should slow down and stop blowing all your profits out the exhaust stacks, run smarter not harder dumbasses. Your biggest cost is fuel, and for every 1 mph you slow down, you pick up on average .1 mpg,which in the course of a year is about 12k, 5 mph reduction in speed is over 60k savings a year due to compounding wind resistance. Fucking amateurs.

2. Rules are to ridged "or something to that effect" :Again fucking amateurs, learn your rules and business...see there is this thing called the safe haven rule,just like on paper logs,this is available for electronic logs. It allows you 2 hours to find a safe place to park,let alone there is also these things call trip planning and time management to prevent those issues with coming up even though sometimes the time you are kept in the dock was past expected load/unload time.And as a last resort, you can always call the cops and have them escort you ....again fucking amateurs trying to run a business and have no fucking clue apparently.

3. Can't cheat anymore : The only logical thing the guy said, the reason your dumb asses cannot use a coloring book anymore is because your supertrucking cowboy asses abused the system long enough.

I remember reading something once that said that transportation is 60% of the US economy.

Back in 1992-93 striking Ontario Truckers blocked 2 out of 3 lanes on the main route to Toronto (both ways.) I remember hating on them like I hate on BLM road-blocking-retards because it turned my 2 hour drive into 7 Hours.

None of his points really make any sense.

One, the strict time lines will get truckers out of my fucking bay faster. I get tired of truckers using up one of my bays as a fucking truck stop. Most of their excuses is their hours are up, they're tired, whatever. Seriously, it pisses me off every time I take a walk across my plant and I see empty trucks docked doing nothing and not leaving. It pisses me off even more when I have to send people to tell them to fucking leave.

Two, the prices are going to increase for trucking, it's pretty straight forward. No trucker is going to drive if he's not going to be able to make money. His point of truckers not being able to make money is simply wrong. I really don't care if the mileage rates are going to increase. It doesn't hurt me, every customer is going to pay for it in the long run. It should have went up in price a long time ago. The fact that companies are abusing their drivers to work 15+ hour days for shit pay because they want to get the "bid", is just fucked up. It's also completely unfair to other truckers who are and want to be legitimate.

Three, I will be fucking glad that loading docks will be rushing to get me out of their dock. I get sick of other companies that will hold up my driver and truck because they only have one fork lift driver for 20 docked trucks, so it takes him all day to unload him. The very fact that I can start invoicing companies for delaying me at a dock because of lousy management brings a smile to my face. Now I have an excuse for the driver to pull out of the dock with a full load after his hours are gonna be up.

These electronic logs is a blessing to these drivers.
The price is gonna go up for them.
The cheats are gonna go under. Demand for drivers is going to go up even higher.
Prices are gonna increase dramatically for them.
The drivers now have the best excuse from being overworked for shit pay.
Employers that force drivers to ignore their lunch and breaks are gonna be in for a huge surprise.
Best of all, it's going to force employers to rethink their strategy of pushing their drivers to the brink of exhaustion.

We don't have a epidemic of trucker crashes. It's nothing like the murder rate of illegals in this country, but typical DC ignores the real problems of the country and flexes it's muscle against those it knows it can control.

I remember the threat of a nationwide trucker strike 5-10 years ago and they were threatened with ECONOMIC TERRORISM if they did it.

Lets see...truckers can no longer earn a good living driving trucks which will lead to less people going into trucking, which will lead to shortages and delay in delivery of goods. Or trucking companies will have to increase pay to attract truckers which will lead to higher prices for everyone.

Darpa will prolly roll out a fleet of autonomous trucks to save the day, resistance is futile.

bullshit. Got a trucker brother and a trucker kid. If your 'hubby' is a company driver and they plan on trying a stunt like that they will get their assess handed to them. If your gonna strike, you need the support of everyone or you will just get scabbed.

i'm a trucker. the owner op's will strike and a few company guys might take vacation or call in, but the shelves will be full. far too many scabs in the industry and the industry is very anti union in general.

if you have a qualcom it's a cheap upgrade to eld, already have the hardware, it's just a software addition or turn on an option.

guys that run illegal are the ones panicking about this. the 2 logbook types. if you friggin drive rather than spend all day screwing off at the truckstops and casinos it's not a big deal.

OP, YOU have 3 weeks to get things planned because your husband and his coworkers are striking at their company... Please don't make the mistake of believing that your personal/local circumstances are representative of what everyone across 2 nations will experience... That's not how it works....

There will be no strike. I manage DOT compliance for a pretty big company. We have been using peoplenet devices for over 4 years now. My drivers are fine with it. Its great for the company on monitoring the 10th hour rule, hours of service and it automatically puts together a grid log if the driver works past 12 hours on duty. The only downfall is most electronic devices on the market now have reception problems and can't connect to the satellites from time to time. So paperlogs will still be present.

Good luck with that truckers.. Soon you will be replaced with AI controlled electric powered trucks.

The thing about these log books... Are there some dishonest drivers? Yes. There are also alot of good drivers, and here is an example of an electonic log book and how it is bullshit.

Lets say a driver arrives at his destination on time with plenty of hours. Now for whatever reason there is a major holdup with unloading his truck so he runs out of hours.

Wherever he unloaded (warehouse and so forth), are not going to let him stay on the property after unloading, even if he is out of hours.. so the driver is basically fucked and he will have to violate his Elog and whstever bullshit ensues from that.

I've been on the road where I'd fly, drive, or take trains when I could.
Loved long late night cross country drives, had a nice Galaxy CB and a 100 watt kicker I could throw in a rental car in 10 minutes.

I have to work far more hours to earn what I'm worth, just as these truckers do.

Been off the road since Obama was installed. Still same work, just no longer as a manufacturer's representative.


I troubleshoot complex electronic/PLC /computer problems.

I have stopped and helped broken trucks, trucks dead at the dock.

Where I work now, in a high speed, web press offset printing plant, I got called on to fix all the Dock-Locks.

For those who don't know, that's a big hook on the side of the building that swings up and grabs that bumper/crash bar on the back of the trailer.

It also has flashy lights red and green, both inside and outside.

They work opposite. When the green light flashes inside, the hook is up and locked...meaning it's safe for the fork truck to load...the red light is flashing outside that the driver knows the trailer is still locked.

Sometimes they jam.

Imagine having to figure out how to put that screw up into the e-log.

Even the, while fixing all the Dock-Locks, I saw how long it can take to get unloaded or loaded. That's real time lost, some drivers get paid waiting, others are just screwed.

I respect truckers, because they are, like me, well to whip themselves a little too hard for their own good in a system that's willing to exploit that.

Now let the chickens come home to roost.

Let everything cost more and pay the driver what they are worth.

Fortunately, the street where I work is dead end with a good turnaround and often there will be a truck or 5 using it as a safe haven.

install automated systems into trucks like this and they will be installing them into regular autos too - dont get me wrong I hate shitty drivers but this is an invasion of privacy and rights ultimatly
